Do you think the heat will melt it or destroy the plastic** A: it is fine in the heat, but it grows green algae in a week...you have to really get in it and scrub it out regularly...but I only see chickadees landing on it, no other birds do...I have other birdbaths around my yard that they go to...i don't think i will hang it up next next year...I think another feeder it it's place would be better...Personnally, I would tell you to skip this one and buy a hanging birdbath, they will like that so much better... **Q: I can't put screws in our balcony walls so can't hang something - would this work if I set it on the floor of the balcony? Is it stable?** A: It would stand by itself but it isn't very big. Not sure the birds would notice it if it was just sitting on the floor. You can buy hooks that go over you balcony railing that doesn't require screws to hang stuff off it. **Q: Will this crack in the winter?** A: I think that might depend on where you live. A friend of mine has had one for a couple of years with no problem, but that is in north Georgia. I plan to leave mine out all winter, but I live in south Georgia. I would suspect it would crack if exposed to repeated freezing & thawing. **Q: Can you please tell me the height and diameter of this item?
