on the package is said that this products contain a chemical known to the state of California to cause birth defects. What is this chemical?

If you go to this link, you will find a detailed answer on Navitas' website. Briefly, California passed Proposition 65 which established very stringent standards for hundreds of toxic substances including certain heavy metals. The substance(s) in question in their pomegranate powder is probably lead and/or cadmium. The standards set by Proposition 65 are controversial, so you will need to research and make up your own mind.

Where did the fiber go? Does this mean it is powdered juice not powdered whole fruit?

Hello! According to Navitas Naturals website, they extract the seeds and juice them, then freeze dry the liquid from the seeds. This does seem to be a powdered juice and does not include any seeds or other parts of the pomegranate fruit. For more information, we suggest contacting Navitas Naturals directly. We hope this is helpful. If we can assist you with anything further, please feel free to contact us directly through Amazon! JennaSwanson Health Products

Why is the powder pink and not a dark red to purple? Pomegranite juice is dark red. I'd think the dried concentrate would be even darker.

Things are typically darker when they're wet and lighter when they are dry.
