My covering material is a soft microfiber type and is wearing well even after heavy use for over a year. The form itself is stiff. I use it with my office chair and also with a Mission Morris type chair that sits too far back for me. I don't use it with my LazyBoy recliner as it is very comfortable as is. However, I did try it with my Lazy Boy and it worked well when I was sitting up, but when I reclined, it left my head with no support. I find most chairs to be poorly designed in terms of the chair back not protruding forward enough to meet the back. When I got this it definitely relieved a good deal of my back stress and allowed for better posture when seated. I found I was comfortable and not as worn out at the end of the day with back aches. The smaller piece in the front comes off an you can move it about as you like. There is also a stretchable strap for securing it to a chair which tightens with two different buttons. There is all a small carrying handle on the side if you need to take it to and fro. It does not make your chair look goofy and it works as I thought it would. It's just fabric and some hard plastic-like substance inside. It is durable material and well made. I would purchase it again if I lost mine. I would not recommend this for anyone who wants to use it in a car with bucket seats as it will not fit correctly. This one is best for office chairs in my opinion.
