Woody Guthrie - The Ultimate Collection

This is a great collection of Woody Guthrie's music. Included is his most famous song, "This Land Is Your Land", a response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America." His other songs are not as well known, but are sung from the heart and can captivate the listener.Guthrie wrote many folk and children's songs, as well as numerous ballads. This is a wonderful sampling of Guthrie's library of songs. The recordings are from some time ago so don't have quite the fidelity of recent recordings. Yet, the sound here is quite good.Woody Guthrie is a guy who wrote a group of inspirational songs that would influence important musicians to be. Songwriters including Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Pete Seeger, and Jerry Garcia were all influenced by Guthrie. This collection provides the opportunity to hear the original music that acted as the inspiration for the upcoming generation of musicians. If you enjoy music, this is a collection that helps complete the puzzle of how American music got its sound.Great lyrics, music, and emotion from a guy who would change the course of U.S. music.

Great collection of Woody Guthrie songs. Some I've known for many years. Other songs are new to me.

This is a great 2 cd set for someone new to Woody or someone who isn't new and wants a lot of his best recordings. While this is missing some what I see as key songs such as All You Fascists Bound To Lose it is still a great collection. As noted in other reviews some songs fade out when it seems to early for them to be fading but that doesn't take away from the awesome of this collection. A must own for any Woody Guthrie fan or beginner.

Filled with recordings of Woody singing his songs in arrangements different from those that are well-known.A true joy to hear him sing his popular songs somewhat differently.

A great collection of some Woody Guthrie songs

This CD Is Fabulous! If anybody says "they aren't a lover of Folk Music" ...Well, if they're a TRUE AMERICAN, they should at least be moved by "This Land Is Your Land," "Buffalo Gals," "Blow The Man Down," or at least one of the 50 songs found on this collection.I felt it good to have because it's HISTORY. It's where great common songs our country sings came from.

Okay. Lacks some of his classics I was looking for, but a solid core to start.

If you play acoustic guitar and/or care at all about those who live on the other side of the 1%, then listen to Woody. If you enjoy reading Bill O'Reilly's "Killing" series, then listen to Sean Hannity instead. Woody Guthrie's music will only disturb you and cause you to question your otherwise peaceful, proper life. Woody offers hope, solace and dignity for those of us who are struggling.

Die 2 CDs sind in einer Kartonhülle in Vintage-Design, haben ein Schallplatten Design. Die Soundqualität entspricht dem damaligen Stand der Technik, nicht "aufgeschmückt", direkt.

Recipient of this gift is quite happy

COISA PRECIOSA
