Review: GREAT Performance. Solid bang for your buck here. - I've always used the stock cooler that came with my CPUs because my logic was that those coolers are designed to work with those CPUs and I don't over clock therefore did not need a bigger cooler. However, I started having over heating issues on my PC. My guess was maybe the stock CPU cooler just wasn't doing its job as well anymore. I'd start up a game and within a couple minutes my PC would shut down and then start back up. After doing some researching my two options were either get a new PSU as a failing power supply can cause the issues I was having or I could buy a new CPU cooler since I noticed that my computer was idling mid to high 50 degree Celsius. And would jump to the high 60s and mid 70s under gaming load. Obviously I went for the cheaper option and bought this bad boy. Let me just say outright that I wish I had bought this or a similar cooler a lot earlier. As you'll read in other reviews this thing is really quiet. The stock CPU upon pressing the power on my case to turn on my PC would spin up to max and slowly drop down to idle speeds as the PC booted up. Not really too big of a deal but it was quite a noticeable noise upon start up. However, with this CPU I no longer have that noise. I caught myself the other day pressing the button and pausing because I wasn't sure if the PC was actually booting or not because of how quiet it was. Even as I sit at my PC and take my headset off and try to hear the PC I hear nothing. No more fan noise. I used to not mind the minor fan noise that came from my PC, but compared to how quiet it is now those stock coolers are loud. Another thing im quite impressed with is just how well it cools. I went from idling in the mid 50s down to low 40s and sometimes even lower into the high 30s if I have my AC on and my room is cooler. Just idling is almost a 20 degree difference on my system. And of course under load it maintains an almost 20 degree difference between stock and this cooler. I've yet to hit 60 degrees while playing any game since I've installed this cooler. It barely gets above the mid 50 degree range under load and I've tested multiple games and over a longer period of time and it maintained its temp in that range. I've kept an eye on temps ever since I've installed it and over the course of a week or so temps have not returned to pre cooler levels. So you know its not a fluke. My biggest complaint is that the instructions that it comes with aren't exactly crystal clear and it took me a minute or two to sit and make out what exactly the pictures were supposed to be depicting. However, a quick video search on youtube cleared things right up and I got it installed. Over all not too complicated of an install. Its all fairly straight forward once you understand what to do. One thing to keep an eye on is the size of this bad boy. While it wasnt quite as big as I was expecting, it is still pretty big. Make sure you look at its dimensions and know the dimensions of your case to ensure that it will fit in with the panels on. This cooler does come with some thermal paste with which to apply and install the cooler but I had some higher quality stuff laying around from a previous mother board upgrade/replacement so I used it instead. I'm not sure of the quality of the thermal paste that comes with the cooler but I'd probably spend a couple extra bucks and buy you a high quality paste alongside your order of this cooler just to be safe. I should note that previously I only had 2 case fans installed in my case. Both of which were exhaust fans. When I ordered this cooler I ordered a double pack of the fans found at this link: https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B00F6S10KK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So this cooler isn't the sole upgrade I did and I have since ordered another single pack of the fan I linked and a molex adapter so I'll now go from just 2 exhaust fans to 3 intake and 2 exhast. My point is, your differences may not be as drastic as mine as I've made other cooling upgrades to aid this cooler, even then the cooler itself has proven to be putting in work. I wish I would've gotten one sooner. 5 star would recommend and would buy again if I ever did another build.
Review: Way Cool! Best bang for the buck. - This bad boy dropped my full load temp by 37 degrees C, compared to a stock Intel D60188 (as measured with RealTemp and Prime 95). No matter what I do now, max temp = 48 C with an overclocked E5450. This model is much better than the older and/or cheaper Cooler Masters because it puts more copper in contact with the CPU. I considered liquid cooling, but I'm glad I took this route. Simpler and cheaper. Because of the superior heat transfer of the heatplate and pipes, I'm able to let my motherboard control the fan speed, but even at full throttle this fan is absolutely silent. FYI: The 4 pin PWM fan connector IS compatible with the older style 3 pin headers. I used Arctic Silver 5 instead of the thermal paste that came with the unit because I know it's the best. I assume this contributed a few degrees to my results. Now for some technical details: This cooler is tall. How tall? Exactly 6.5" from the motherboard to the top of the cooler for my socket 775 installation. Since the mounting hardware is the same for all supported sockets except 2011, I expect the other heights will be about the same. The 2011 standoffs are a little bit shorter. It's amazing that this cooler can fit so many different CPU sockets. I'm looking forward to keeping this for a while as I upgrade processors and motherboards in the future. Installation tip: Because of the ingenious mount system, the bracket that holds the heat plate to the CPU is a bit tricky to seat. I suggest you practice fit it once or twice and tighten the mounting screws half way to check your work before disassembling, applying the thermal paste and doing the final assembly. When I removed the protective sticker from the heat plate, there was plenty of adhesive stuck to it so I made an executive decision (unaided by Google) to remove it with rubbing alcohol before applying the thermal paste. Note to my friends at Cooler Master: I love the product and the fact that it fits so many different sockets, BUT the way the bracket connects to the heatplate, could be simpler to install and better. Here's what I would do: Eliminate the locating pin and replace the spring thing in the middle with a screw connected to a large thumbwheel that you could screw into the hole (that will need to be threaded) in the heatplate. Alternatively, you could use a small hex head bolt and include an open end wrench to install it (a la Ikea). You could also sell a bunch more of these if you could make them just a bit shorter - I understand there is a trade-off between being high enough to clear RAM and low enough to fit into the case, and having a 120mm fan.....but 1/4 to 3/8" would be a big help. How about clipping the tops of the heat tubes to be almost flush with the top fin? Thanks to all the other reviewers who helped me choose this product.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: noise**
A: I just built a new PC with this four days ago. The fan that comes with the Heat Sink is fairly loud when it starts to ramp up... however, DON'T LET THAT BE WHAT STOPS YOU FROM BUYING THIS! If you find that the included fan is too loud for your tastes, you can EASILy replace it: the heatsink fan is just a standard 120mm fan that's attached to two plastic adapter/clips that clip onto the sides of the heatsink. It also comes with a second set of these adapters so you can have a fan pushing air into the heatsink on the front and a second fan pulling the air out through the back. So if you want something more silent, you could buy two quieter 120mm case fans and have one on each side of the heatsink to ensure that enough air is still getting through without the added noise.

**Q: im using the asus matx motherboard, will this fit with it inside of a cooler master elite 431 plus?**
A: Yes.

**Q: Should the fan be facing the blower that exits the back of my case?**
A: You should choose the path of air going through your case and point all the fans in the same direction. So if the fan in the back of the case is drawing from the case and blowing to the outside, the Cooler Master fan should blow toward the rear fan and allow it to exhaust the air to the outside.

**Q: Does this fit in the nzxt h500i**
A: You can literally look at measurements W×H×L then check the specs on the nzxt h500i

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cooler Master master's cooling
*by D***R on September 13, 2017*

I have purchased three different type installations of this same cooler and review does not allow for reviewing them each on it's own. These are remarkably great coolers with the last keeping my cpu at 20+ degree temps. However the installation of the latest one purchased was not ideal. It would take too long and too much space to go into the details, so I'll leave it at that. While most of the confusion involved was mostly on me, the design of the hardware installation was the worst of the three coolers I've purchased. Back plates should fit flush with the MB in my opinion, not ride atop the back of the cpu slot. Nuff said. Still, Cooler Master coolers do the job in spades, at a great price. {AM2+ install pictured} Purchased two of these about 3 years apart. Did not realize it until after much searching and the second purchase that I had bought the same cooler for an AMD processor that I had bought several years previous for an Intel processor. The second sits atop a mid level AMD Athlon X2 2.8 (soon to be a Phenom II X4 3.0) while the first sits atop an I7 6700 4.0 processor. Installation for the M2+ socket was simple with a rocker arm clipping on either side to my existing base. Hovers over the first RAM slot but workable. Installation for the LGA socket was a tad more complicated needing the included hardware for a different base installation. Both do an incredible job of quietly keeping my cpu's running at very low temp's. The Athon temps are consistently equal to or less than 20 C and the Intel are equal to or less than 28 C. Temps did not exceed 56 C on the I7 when running an elongated (FurMark) stress test. Did I say these are very quiet heat sink coolers. In my experience nobody does it better than Cooler Master. If you are not a gamer or an overclocker (as I am not) who just wants to ensure things are cool, quiet and stable, I would highly recommend this heat sink cooler.
