River Flows in You
Product ID: 23308975
Variously described as contemporary classical, minimalist and even New Age, Yirumas gorgeously peaceful music is impossible to classify it is simply there to be enjoyed. The South Korean composer, born in 1978, studied in the UK and has made a name for himself in both in his native country and in Europe, regularly performing to sell-out audiences around the globe. Despite his definite celebrity status, his music remains resolutely simple and unpretentious; more in the style of short pop music songs than regular solo piano pieces, the very best of it can be enjoyed on this exciting 2LP release which includes, among others, the hit River Flows In You, now a regular feature on wedding music albums. Jeroen van Veen, himself a prolific composer as well as renowned pianist, fell in love with Yirumas music on first hearing. As he explains in his liner notes, the musics enduring popularity is down to its simplicity for player and listener alike. Not many classical composers can boast of having millions of fans, and millions of YouTube views to boot; Yiruma, however, effortlessly bridges the gap between popular and classical, and, most of all, allows the listener to relax and unwind. Brilliant Classics is proud to offer this recording as part of its new line of vinyl releases. With music by Pärt, Satie, Einaudi and other renowned minimalist composers also making up the collection, this exciting new development gives the listener a real opportunity to sit down and savour music just the way it used to be appreciated. Other information: 180 grams audiophile Vinyl, 33 1/3 rpm.

Not recorded well
Yes the record is in good shape however the records is not recorded well at all. Distortion everywhere in the record. It's being played on a $1500 dollar record player on acoustic research 90 speakers so I'm not running it on some cheap setup either.

Yirumas music is comforting, soft, filled with caring and love. So I guess it is very healthy to give this kind of *food* to your soul from time to time. Songs in the beginning of the list are most beautiful.

I love the piano
And Yiruma is one of the better piano players out there. His new sound in classic is worth listening to again and again or for the first time.

What was the Producer Thinking?
This is a beautiful album - serene, harmonious, very relaxing and a little bit jazzy at the end, which I like very much - BUT NOT TRACK 10!!! What was the producer thinking when he agreed to include this track?! Track 10 starts off OK, but then a man (I presume it's Yiruma himself) starts singing in Japanese - bit dodgy, but acceptable; but it all goes to pieces when a little child joins in - very squeaky, out of tune and VERY BADLY!This track came on right at the end of a very relaxing massage therapy session and my client fell about laughing - it completely disrupted her chilled out state, but she went home with a smile on her face!I now start the album at track 11 and make sure I put the CD player on 'repeat all'. That way I can get about 50 minutes of soothing music without having to suffer track 10.
