The numerous nocturnal operations undertaken by this force and the camouflage they used caused this unit to be nicknamed the “Black Devils” by the German Wehrmacht. This knife is a replica of the specially designed V-42 combat knife given to Devil’s Brigade members as part of their extensive combat training. It features a corrugated thumb rest for a secure grip a curved pommel and thick leather padding under the handle, and a strong double-edged blade. The steel is SK-5 High Carbon Steel, which resists abrasions while maintaining a superior edge. The motto, “The worst is yet to come!” is emblazoned on a collector’s sticker, which is a reproduction of the stickers the camp would place behind enemy lines to demoralize them. The knife also comes with the classic leather sheath and a replica of the unit’s cloth insignia, the red spearhead. The blade’s length is 7 in., and the overall length of the knife is 12 in. Limited lifetime warranty. A chestnut tree is the world famous trademark of the Boker knife manufactory in Solingen, Germany. It represents innovative, high quality, exceptional knives, manufactured with pride, by hand, for over 145 years. ## Features - Replica red spearhead cloth included with the words "The worst is yet to come!" - Black coated SK-5 carbon steel blade - Handle is made of compressed leather discs and ends in a pointed impact cap - Red spearhead cloth included with the words: The worst is yet to come! - Classic leather sheath included - Limited lifetime warranty ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Age Range Description | Adult | | Asin | B005ATMZD6 | | Best Sellers Rank | #546,562 in Sports & Outdoors (See Top 100 in Sports & Outdoors) #2,018 in Fixed Blade Hunting Knives | | Blade Edge | Compound Bevel | | Blade Length | 7 inches | | Blade Material | Carbon Steel | | Blade Shape | Straight Back | | Blade Type | Double-edged | | Brand Name | BÖKER | | Color | Multi-Color | | Customer Package Type | Boxed | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars (280) 4.6 out of 5 stars | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00788857020722, 04045011072024 | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Handle Material | Leather | | Included Components | Sheath | | Item Length | 12 inches | | Item Shape | irregular | | Item Type Name | Boker Plus 02BO1942 V-42 Replica Devils Brigade Knife with 7 in. Is the blade lined-up on-point from tip to crusher? and how is the steel/leather quality** A: Mine was in fine alignment, and I am VERY particular about that sort of thing. I actually ordered one of the more recent V-42 replica offering from CASE (the company which made the original V-42's under contract) , and I wound up sending it back for just that issue. The blade's tip to pommel simply DIDN'T line up, and at almost 5 times the price of this replica. Very disappointing. The Boker which I received is a good value. The blade is straight, of good hardness, and comes fairly sharp, but can be more finely honed if desired. The pommel and the (very sharp) tip line up perfectly. The leather on mine is of good quality, for both the knife and sheath. The only difference that I would wish, would be for the blade to have a fine polished, BLUED finish, like the original (and as found on the Fairbairn-Sykes), instead of the parkerized, mat finish which it has. That said, mine anyway, was a very nice buy, and I'm very happy with it. I keep it in my safe, and I have cheaper, Chinese copy V-42 which I keep in my desk and use as a very scary letter opener. Nobody bothers me in my office when I'm opening my mail...at least not twice. **Q: Every knife ad leaves out probably the most important dimension. What is the thickness??** A: Sorry. I am not where the knife is. It is not on the thick side. I do not believe it ever gets as thick as the top thick side of my Spyderco police model. Hope this helps! **Q: What is the width of the blade at its widest?** A: I must apologize but all my reference knives are locked up for the moment in my safes as we move them. But off top of my head, it is approximately 1". Hope this helps, You can go to Bokers Website and it will give you the exact dimensions though if critical.
