First of all, yes, the battery life, to some users can be abysmal. I am using 4 rechargeable min, 930 mAh AAA batteries, 2 at a time. So, I always have batteries ready. The LED of the mouse wheel flashes at a regular interval when the batteries are running low. When it starts to flash every 5 minutes, it is time to change the battery. Once I got used to this changing battery rhythm, I don't think about it too much. I also found out the reason for batteries being drained so quickly. This mouse has two methods to connect to PC wireless, Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz. We all know that wireless connection via Bluetooth has lagged. In the old days, all wireless mouses were connected via Bluetooth and hence I avoided them until now. This mouse when connected via 2.4 GHz, there is no noticeable lag at all. But because of the polling method, it will inevitably use up a lot of power, hence draining the batteries fairly quickly. But at £35, with great response, fitting the palm comfortably, this mouse worth at least 4.5 stars, if not 5.

I bought this mouse as a replacement for th smaller Logitech one that came with the keyboard.This one is large enough to be comfortable to hold, and glides nicely on the laminate wood desktop.Pairing is very straight forward with it being Bluetooth and you just need to switch the button underneath to BT and connect it as you would a new device.I haven't tried the radio connection but would imagine this works just as advertised.The mouse goes into low power mode of not used for a while but, when clicked (and wait 3 seconds for th LED indicator to turn solid), it's back on and working again.Battery hasn't died on me yet after roughly 10 hours use (maybe more) so happy with the mouse so far.I think it's well priced for the quality and feel it was worth th purchase.

Initially, I used the Logitech M720 Triathlon Multi-Device Wireless Mouse which I considered the best mouse I had ever used due to its handling, ergonomics, and battery life. It could connect to three devices, which was a plus. I had high expectations when I purchased this new mouse since it seemed similar. However, it seems a bit small for my large hand, though it should be perfect for a normal hand.Advantages:1. The appearance and feel of the mouse are great.2. Sensitivity can be adjusted using the DPI button, which offers five levels.3. It can be connected through Bluetooth or a 2.4 GHz dongle.4. It automatically powers off to conserve battery life when not in use for an extended period.5. It can work with a single battery cell as well.Disadvantages:1. It consumes a lot of battery power, and even 2 AAA Duracells only last for a month or a month and a half.2. If not used for an extended period, it turns off and may take a second or two to reconnect after turning on (only in Bluetooth mode).

This is my first steelseries product and was purchased to be used as my main daily mouse. I would rate the build quality as slightly above average and the presence of multiple connectivity options as positive (that is where the mouse earns its 1 star for me).The battery life is however no where near the advertised 400 hours of usage. I purchased the mouse on 02/09 and as of today (21/09) the mouse has gone through a pair of fully charged batteries.In the two and a half weeks, I have used the mouse for less than 100 hours in total (1/4 of what is advertised).Considering the price of the mouse and the expense and inconvenience of having to replace batteries every two weeks makes this product very unappealing option in my opinion. There are good rechargeable battery mice available for considerably less than the total of the mouse cost + cost of batteries over time.My experience with this mouse has made me suspicious of any marketing claims made by steelseries and I will not be purchasing any of their products again in future.P.S the mouse is also constantly disconnecting and re-connecting with white light flashing when connected via the 2.4g receiver (making it a terrible experience). I have installed the latest version of the steelseries GG software and updated my mouse firmware to latest available. The problem doesn't seem to exist while connected via Bluetooth.

Fits in the hand very nicely and very compatible with systems which can't have software installed.Programming can be written to the mouse's firmware, so on my home PC I was able to set lighting, sensitivity etc then plug and play on my work laptop. Compared to my Logitech equipment I have found this to be far better and much prefer the firmware since you can't adjust the lighting without installing Logitech’s software.The Rival 3 is excellent all round, either connecting with bluetooth or USB dongle.

I'll get this out the way right away, the battery life on this mouse is pretty terrible if you just turn it on and use it, which I think most gamers will. (IE, you don't turn it over and turn it off every night, and just leave it to go to sleep itself) - You can run the mouse with either a single AAA or two AAA batteries. Having two literally just elongates the current length of time before replacing a battery and adds an extra battery of weight. This is with the power saving options on (which sleep the mouse after a short while of inactivity, requiring a click to wake it) which feels... bad. For comparison, I've resorted back to using my Logitech Master 2s for the work machine and that lasts literally months over bluetooth. This mouse barely lasts a couple of weeks of evening use and the odd lunch time game!I bought this mouse as a way I could have a solid wireless gaming mouse on my PC but also flick to Bluetooth and use the same mouse on my work machine (a Mac) at the same desk without having multiple input devices knocking around. Right out the gate, Steelseries does have mac software, but regardless of OS over bluetooth you lose the ability to use some of the settings in the software, which makes having a consistent experience between two machines pretty much impossible. The mouse does work fine, just forget setting up custom buttons or changing DPI.Over on the USB receiver side of things, you get access to everything including the RGB scrollwheel lights, power saving options and sensor settings through software. Out the box, the button below the scrollwheel toggles your DPI between 5 presets, but this is both customisable and also re-mapable, which is nice. (when it works)The biggest downfall in my opinion is a lack of USB port on this mouse. I have been in the middle of an online FPS game and the mouse has just straight up died and had no spare batteries in the house. This meant I basically was out until I scrounged the TV remote control for at least one battery to get me to the end of the round. (I lost anyway) If it had USB, I could have quickly popped it in and carried on. I think the reason it doesn't have one is the batteries on the mouse are removable, so would potentially confuse users that they're charing non-rechargable batteries or something. But for the price of this mouse, other mice (like Corsairs Harpoon RGB wireless) has the same BT/Dongle functionality but also is recharable and uses USB, so a much more well rounded buy (although arguable has a worse battery than even this mouse, but least it has USB...!) so it's a struggle to recommend. I also went out and bought some pricey AAA recharable batteries to use with this mouse as I was concious of how many Duracells I was putting into the battery bank down Tesco. So arguably after I've paid ~£50 for this and ~£30 for those and a charger, I should have just bought a more premium mouse from the off.

I bought this to use with my work laptop. As a gamer I find "office" mice to be a bit of a con. This is comfortable to use, clearly it's designed to be used for long sessions. My work laptop is a Microsoft Surface so it only has one USB A and and USB C, so it's nice that it has bluetooth so I don't need to use a dongle (although one is supplied if needed, and housed neatly inside the mouse). Definitely recommend. Easy to connect. My only criticism is when it goes to sleep you need to click it to wake it. I'm used to just wiggling the mouse, but I feel like I'm being a bit pedantic as it's just a minor thing really. Suppose it's a good battery saving feature for when I put it in my bag without switching it off!
