Review: Best product for refinishing or repairing wood furniture - When refinishing this coffee table, I found out the curved edge of the table top was MDF, rather than wood. I knew it would not take a stain as well there and it's a noticeable part of the table. I almost gave up and thought about painting the piece, but I'm loving a raw wood look right now. Fortunately I found this product! So easy to apply....just paint it on. I did put a light coat of stain on it after 2 coats, and finished with a polycrylic. I love how it turned out, especially considering I thought I'd have to resort to painting. Awesome product!
Review: Looks Like Real Wood. Everyone Thinks I Stripped The Old Paint - After scuffing with 120 grit sandpaper, I painted over the old fireplace surround with “retique it light wood”. Coated entire fireplace surround using every bit of an 8oz can. I then followed up with a grain tool over a thin wet coat of “retique it dark wood”. After letting this cure for 4 hours (and some persuasion with the heat gun), I brushed on a NON penetrating (very important that you do not use penetrating) stain then once dry, a matte polyurethane topcoat. Taping the wall and stone base took most of the time. This is my first experience using any of these products and did not practice at all before starting this job. Spend some time watching youtube videos and you should be good. No steps were difficult or technical at all, just a little time consuming working slowly to not make any mistakes like missing any spots or wasting materials because i ordered a little less than i was comfortable with. I have turned down so many neighbors and friends (that asked me to do this for them). On to the next project.. 😀

**Q: Can it be used on an already stripped laminate top?**
A: Im not sure I would imagine, I used it on a childs old cabinet then stained it....the stuff is great!!!

**Q: Can I use this product {antique it} on white painted kitchen chairs**
A: I'm sure it will work on your white painted chairs. It might be a little difficult staining, but I wouldn't imagine it would be too bad. This stuff is amazing. Take some before and after pictures, because nobody will believe you when you tell them they are the same chairs.  I used the light wood, with a dark stain. Came out fantastic. The light wood Retique It, lets some imitation grain to show through as you wipe a darker stain off. Very cool.

**Q: Can you describe difference colors in ebony stain vs kona stain?**
A: Hello,  ebony stain has more of a black appearance and Mona stain has a chocolate or deep brown appearance.

**Q: Can you use it on a bathroom countertop?**
A: Yes, you can. I would just make sure to seal it with something more durable than a typical poly. You’ll definitely want some type of marine varnish.

I used this on my mantel and some side tables. The base is a little bit more yellow then I would like. But the product works great. Just what I needed. I will possible try the other colors for a none yellow base.
