Yurei Attack! is a nightmare-inducing one-stop guide to Japan's traditional ghosts and spirits. Surviving encounters with angry ghosts and sexy specters. Haunted places. Dangerous games and how to play them. And more importantly, a guided tour of what awaits in the world of the dead. Yurei is the Japanese word for "ghost." It's as simple as that. They are the souls of dead people, unable—or unwilling—to shuffle off this mortal coil. Yurei are many things, but "friendly" isn't the first word that comes to mind. Not every yurei is dangerous, but they are all driven by emotions so uncontrollably powerful that they have taken on a life of their own: rage, sadness, devotion, a desire for revenge, or even the firm belief that they are still alive. This book, the third in the authors' bestselling Attack! series, after Yokai Attack! and Ninja Attack! gives detailed information on 39 of the creepiest yurei stalking Japan, along with detailed histories and defensive tactics should you have the misfortune to encounter one. Japanese ghosts include: Oiwa, The Horror of Yotsuya Otsuyu, The Tale of the Peony Lantern The Lady Rokujo, The Tale of Genji Isora, Tales of Moonlight and Rain Orui, The Depths of Kasane Book 3 of 3 in the Yokai Attack! series. Others include Ninja Attack! and Yokai Attack!. Review: Great! - Great gift for any age. Good illustrations Review: Packed with great information and incredible artwork - This book is loaded with detailed information about different yurei, and it’s presented in a way that’s both fun and easy to follow. Each entry gives you background, folklore, and personality, so you really get a sense of who these spirits are and where they come from. The illustrations are a standout—bold, expressive, and full of atmosphere, which makes flipping through the pages just as enjoyable as reading the text. If you love Japanese folklore or just appreciate well‑designed reference books, this one is absolutely worth having.

For a fan of spooky stuff and Japan, this book is perfect!
I'm a huge fan of folklore, ghost stories, and Japan as a whole. I've always admired the culture and traditions, and the terrifying stories of creatures and yokai have always caught my attention. Up until I got this book, I hadn't really done any research on yurei, but this was definitely an awesome introduction! The visuals are pretty great, the stories themselves, and the extra information about haunted places and the like are so cool!

Do you have an interest in supernatural Japan? Is your dvd copy of Ju-On wearing thin from being watched so often? Do you wonder what's lurking in the shadows or waiting for you to buy that cursed house? Well, then this is the book for you! Compact and colorful, this book offers so interesting reading as well as visuals. It's well worth picking up if you have even the slightest curiosity about Yurei.

Really Great!
すごいですよ！ I am now in my third college semester of taking Japanese language, GO TRIBE!, and wanted to learn some more about the culture, myths, and legends of Japan. This is a great book for just that! It is the size of a handbook and it full of interesting facts and legends. I have already ordered the others in the series. Did I mention awesome pictures too?!

A Haunting Look
This comprehensive book was well written and I have enjoyed it immensely. I am very grateful to the writer for providing intricate information about many of folk lore involving the Yurei. It was proved to be a great roll playing source when I need to fuel ideas to engage my players. Even if you don't game if you enjoy folk lore, old fairy tale or just want more insight into the Japanese culture I recommend this book.

Haunted by learning.
I enjoyed this book very much. It gave the clarity to understand the supernatural in Japanese culture. This book is an excellent introduction in learning about yurei and it's subcategories. I can't wait to read the other works written by the same authors.

Great read. Worth buying
I've got the other two books in this smart little series. Like those it is very informative about the Japanese Ghost folklore and ... a little graphic as well. I found this one to be safer for the mature reader as there are a few stories actually made my stomach turn a bit. But it is a very great read if your into Japanese culture and history, as this covers both, the drawings are manga like and are often very amusing. Some of the stories are very good as well and some you can't help but think there might be a grain of truth to some of them
