Does the line that goes across the top of the net and connects to the trees come with the set?

Hello, The line that you mentioned is not included.

can this be looped around horizontal pole of metal swing set?

Yes, it can. However, I suppose you need more hooks for that purpose.

What is a good, safe way to attach to tbe ground to make more secure?

I was going to secure mine to the posts of their playset but they like it with the bottom hanging free. Makes it more fun and challenging to climb while it swings
