It was a successful tank design, with upgrades, for many decades. The chassis was also adapted for several other roles. In 1967, the Royal Australian Armoured Corps' (RAAC), 1st Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) Squadron transferred to "A" Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment Vietnam. Although they successfully conducted combat operations in their areas of operations, reports from the field stated that their light-armour M-113 ACAV's) were unable to force their way through dense jungle limiting their offensive actions against enemy forces. The Australian government, under criticism from Parliament, decided to send a squadron of Australian Centurion tanks to South Vietnam. The 20-pdr armed Australian Centurions of 'C' Squadron, 1st Armoured Regiment landed in the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) on 24 February 1968, and were headquartered at Nui Dat in III Corps (MR3). ## Features - Scale: 1/35 - Ages: 14+ - AFV Club P/N: 35100 ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B001EAQNZQ | | Additional Features | Portable | | Age Range Description | Kid | | Brand Name | AFV Club | | Color | Green | | Customer Package Type | Not FFP Certified | | Customer Reviews | 4.9 4.9 out of 5 stars (11) | | Educational Objective | Historical Learning, Fine Motor Skills Development, Following Instructions | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04716965351007 | | Included Components | Plastic sprue, Photoetched fret, Turned metal, Rod, Decalsheet (waterslide), Vinyl | | Item Dimensions | 11.81 x 1.97 x 7.87 inches | | Item Weight | 1.2 pounds | | Manufacturer | AFV Club | | Manufacturer Part Number | FV35100 | | Manufacturer recommended age | 0 - 2 years | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Name | MK5/1 | | Model Number | AFV35078 | | Model Year | 1960 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Operation Mode | Static | | Power Source | No Power Source Required | | Scale | 1:35 Scale | | Set Name | Centurion MK5/1 (Vietnam Version) | | Size | 11.81 inches | | Theme | Military | | Toy Vehicle Form | Armored Fighting Vehicle | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Images ![Centurion MK5/1 (Vietnam Version) 1:35 Scale Military Model Kit - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71sGc2HJyhL.jpg) ## Frequently Bought Together - AFV Club Centurion MK5/1 (Vietnam Version) 1:35 Scale Military Model Kit - Tamiya Models Allied Vehicle Accessories,14 Jahre to 99 Jahre - Tamiya 35135 1/35 U.S. M113 ACAV Plastic Model Kit --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/21594035-centurion-mk5-1-vietnam-version-1-35-scale-military-model](https://www.desertcart.no/products/21594035-centurion-mk5-1-vietnam-version-1-35-scale-military-model) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
