**Q: Is this matte black or gloss?**
A: Gloss. I have used it on a hi-gloss red painted surface  and the black marker on that surface is glossy.

**Q: Can i use it on a paper labels**
A: It would probably take longer to dry, you're going to knocked out by the fumes before it does.
