You already know whether or not you want this product and whether or not it’s going to be worth it to you. The vast majority of users of Hue really don’t need this. This is extremely overpriced for what it is and synced lighting can be pretty hit or miss. It’s amazing for music visualizers, music videos and very vibrant movies but it can very easily take away immersion in low-lighting scenes. It always seems to go for white light rather than the absence of light when there’s mostly the color black on the screen which is pretty distracting in my opinion. Review: The showpiece of our Hue setup, incredible for films and gaming - This completely transformed our living room for movie nights and gaming. It sits between your HDMI sources and the TV and syncs your Hue lights to whatever is on screen in real time. Watching something with a sunset and the whole room glows warm orange, a space scene and everything goes deep blue. It's genuinely impressive how fast it reacts and the immersion it adds is something you don't appreciate until you see it in person. Setup was a bit fiddly getting all the HDMI cables sorted but once it's done you don't need to touch it again. Gaming on the Xbox with it running is a whole other level, especially in darker atmospheric games. It's not cheap but if you've already invested in the Hue ecosystem this is the showpiece that ties it all together. Friends always comment on it when they come over. ## Features - Surround lighting - discover the next level of immersion with philips hue surround lighting. sync on-screen content through the philips hue hdmi sync box and have your smart lights seamlessly mirror whatever you are watching, playing or listening to - What's required? - philips hue bridge and colour smart lights (sold separately) are required for surround lighting. simply plug in your new sync box, download the hue sync app and follow the on-screen instructions to get started - Sync with movies and tv series - enjoy cinema-like experiences and expand your on-screen content through your smart lights and into your room. see action movies, sports, magical fairy tales and more come to life with bright colours through smart lighting - Light up your gaming - highlight your in-game actions with your smart lights. from slow-moving effects that match in-game environments, to fast flashes during action-packed gameplay, philips hue pulls you deeper into the game - Personalise your experience - tailor your entertainment experience through the free Hue sync app and customise the brightness, light intensity or synchronisation modes with video, audio and game ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B086MR9XR8 | | Best Sellers Rank | 48,973 in Electronics & Photo ( See Top 100 in Electronics & Photo ) 39 in Internet Radios | | Box Contents | Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box Surround Lighting for TV Entertainment & Gaming Works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit, Black | | Brand | Philips Hue | | Brand Name | Philips Hue | | Color | Black | | Colour | Black | | Compatible Devices | Smart TV | | Compatible devices | Smart TV | | Customer Reviews | 4.2 out of 5 stars 2,907 Reviews | | Data Link Protocol | Bluetooth | | Data Transfer Rate | 2.4 GHz | | Data link protocol | Bluetooth | | Hardware Interface | Bluetooth | | Hardware interface | Bluetooth | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 18.2L x 9.9W x 2.3H centimetres | | Item Type Name | Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box Surround Lighting for TV Entertainment & Gaming | | Item Weight | 16.05 Ounces | | Manufacturer | Philips Hue | | Manufacturer Part Number | 929002275802 | | Model Number | 929002275802 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Product Warranty | 2 year manufacturer. | | Product dimensions | 18.2L x 9.9W x 2.3H centimetres | | Unit Count | 100.0 gram | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Philips Hue - **Colour:** Black - **Compatible devices:** Smart TV - **Data link protocol:** Bluetooth - **Data transfer rate:** 2.4 GHz - **Hardware interface:** Bluetooth - **Item weight:** 16.05 Ounces - **Number of items:** 1 - **Product dimensions:** 18.2L x 9.9W x 2.3H centimetres - **Unit count:** 100.0 gram ## Images ![Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, Surround Lighting for TV Entertainment & Gaming Compatible with Alexa - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51p4wS2D9XL.jpg) ![Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, Surround Lighting for TV Entertainment & Gaming Compatible with Alexa - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61ehrVIfS6L.jpg) ![Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, Surround Lighting for TV Entertainment & Gaming Compatible with Alexa - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71CpIB894CL.jpg) ![Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, Surround Lighting for TV Entertainment & Gaming Compatible with Alexa - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71GYNtFW3jL.jpg) ![Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, Surround Lighting for TV Entertainment & Gaming Compatible with Alexa - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/619sPbWQ25L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Does it support 4k hdr pass through?** A: HDR has stopped for me a few days ago. As soon as I unplugged the Sync box and went direct between PS5 & OLED TV it is fine. Not the best product from Philips **Q: Why does this cost so much? Over £200 for a box to change the light colour when the hub costs less than £50 and does so much more?** A: It'll syn lights to the tv (see philips hue light strip and light bars) a proper set up is amazing but expect to have to shell out. It'll sink to music on youtube giving your entire home or just a room a nightclub light show **Q: Can anyone tell me why this item is nearly Double the price as Philips is charging£229.00 ?** A: I noticed that the 3 options are all from 3rd party sellers. I definitely wouldn’t buy from any of them. As stated their charging double that of buying directly from Philips. Also buying directly from Philips you know your getting brand new, not something that could be a customer return, 2nd hand or even refurbished. If you’re going to buy one, go directly to Philips and get free delivery too. **Q: Does this work with Amazon Fire Stick 4k?** A: Yes although you have down rate fps and only use 1080p. Doesn't work with 4k ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Overpriced but why not if you’ve already invested in a lot of hue lighting *by N***O on 18 October 2025* If you’re more interested in syncing your lighting to music than to video or you don’t need the media you’re watching to be on a TV screen you’re better off with the free Philips Hue Sync app on a laptop or the Spotify integration in the Hue mobile app. Although I am happy with this product, I wouldn’t exactly recommend it to anybody. It works as intended and it does it well but it seems outrageously over priced, considering it cant do anything on its own and only really shines when combines with about 5 other lights. Not something you'd want if you've just got into Hue, one for when you've built up a collection first. ## Frequently Bought Together - Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, Surround Lighting for TV Entertainment & Gaming Compatible with Alexa - Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip for 55 Inch TVs, Sync with Media and Gaming Smart Entertainment LED Lighting with Voice Control, Compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant (Packaging may vary) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/201115366-philips-hue-play-hdmi-sync-box-surround-lighting-for-tv](https://www.desertcart.no/products/201115366-philips-hue-play-hdmi-sync-box-surround-lighting-for-tv) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-11-01*
