ROOFULL 5 Port 4K HDMI 2.0 Switch with Remote

This is a great little product for the money. I moved from a ten year old monoprice 8 port switch that cost me a couple hundred dollars back then. Monoprice made and still makes good products, but this old one isn't 4K and it's showing signs of pending failure, and I didn't want to spend that kind of money again. Saw this one and decided to give it a go. I didn't need 8 ports. So I decided on the 5 port model. Right out of the box it's clear this is a pretty decent quality. It's got good weight to it. Most of the switches you get at "Worst Buy" or other big box-ers just feel cheap. This one doesn't feel that way. I have 'never' been a fan of these remotes that are smaller than a business card with those flat buttons. They break in about a month. This one does come with a remote that size, but it's a sturdier build, actuall rubber buttons, very basic, and it works well at fairly decent range. That being said, I guarantee you I'll lose it. So, I taught my learning remote (Sofabaton is my go-to) to learn the functions of the included remote and I put the original in the drawer. It's there if I need it. Setup was very simple, as expected. There was one thing I never liked about my monoprice. It didn't auto-switch when it got signal. I didn't realize this one did that, and I love it! Now, I've got this plugged into a Samsung 70 inch Crystal UHD TV. Samsung is notorious for short-changing you on HDMI inputs. This TV is great, but it's only got two HDMI inputs, hence the need for the switch. In Port 1 I have my roku device. In port 2 I have this switch with my blu ray, game systems, and PC/Laptop on it. I did that because the TV itself will always auto-switch to the most recent signal it picks up. My wife can hit the home button on the Roku remote and no matter what I left it on, it'll kick over to the Roku. This switch, though....it's got some magic to it. If I'm on the Roku input....and the switch is powered off, and I turn on any one of those devices hooked to the switch, this switch will power-on, auto select the source, then kick it over to the TV which with auto-select that input on the TV. I love it. Money well spent.

Before I wrote a review for this product, I wanted to ensure that I had an adequate amount of time to use and vet the product. Too often we fall into the trap of lauding a product immediately after purchase, lured in by a false sense of excitement over our new toy only to find that within a week of use, we have a shiny new paperweight on our hands. I want to ensure you that this is not the case here for this product. This product has now been in continuous use for over 2 months. The installation is as follows: The Roofull itself is in our media closet connected to 5 HDMI sources: DISH Hopper, Chromecast, Fire stick, Blu Ray, and Xbox One. The output cable is a 35 ft, Version 1.4A Certified, 26 AWG HDMI cable. This cable is rated 'inwall' and extends from our media closet through our attic and down the inside of our family room wall leading to a 1080P flat screen hanging above our fire place. Not a lot of frills with this device (which is exactly what I wanted), but just know that it does it's job, and it does it well. The picture is crisp and clean with no discernible lines, discolorations, distortions, or interruptions whatsoever. The audio is tight and responsive with no noticeable lag. You will think that the TV is directly connected to the source of interest! Doesn't get any better than that. The remote is unassuming. It does the job for switching between sources (we have an IR sensor under the TV leading back to the media closet where the ROOFULL receives the IR signal). Although this device is capable of being powered off, we do not use the power button, and therefore this product remains power continuously. I'm not sure of the power consumption of the device itself, or if the life of the product will suffer due to continuously being powered. At present, these are not of concern to me. All-in-all, a great purchase for the price. I would recommend this product to those seeking a low-cost HDMI switcher.

Actually works at 4K, 120 Hz. HDR10, VRR, CEC is compatible. At least that's what my Series X thinks is all working. Gave me green checkmarks for all of it. I was shocked this thing did all of this, since Amazon is a cesspool of technical IT lies.

Very solid hdmi switch. Tested with an LG C5 tv, works well for HDR, VRR and auto switching. I tried another switch that had some issues with losing various features when switching inputs but this one seems to be consistent. Auto switching works well too which is very convenient. The remote is decent though it has slightly odd separate on and off buttons but I've gotten used to it now. Overall very pleased and can recommend it for use with the LG C5.

So I'm not one for hyperbole, but... boy this ROOFULL (oy.. the names...) leaves very little on the table in terms of features. In short, I love it. Let's look at what we have here: 1.) 5-port HDMI switch, that supports 4K/60 HDR10, Dolby Vision, 4:4:4 chroma etc. My Apple TV 4K loves this, that's for sure. No issues. 2.) Gaming console? This has you covered. No problems with my PS4 Pro or XBOX One X, connected to my 2017 LG OLED (actually, through a Sony HT-ST5000 soundbar). And here's the big one: 3.) While this does AUTO-switch, it also has FULL manual switching. Yep, nothing more annoying that a device waking from sleep and auto-switching the HDMI input (my Apple TV does this). Although the manual does not state it, THANK GOODNESS for the Amazon description that tells you to HOLD the "Switch" button down for around 5 seconds - the light will blink four times, and BAM - no more auto-switching. Why else is this good? Well.... 4.) No issue with using my Logitech Harmony Elite remote to switch inputs! This means I can have the TV turn on, my soundbar turn on, and the HDMI switch move to the correct input without any auto-switching getting in the way. Fully manually controlled by me = WIN. You can teach the IR commands of each HDMI input from the original switch remote without any problems. So, overall, - this is a great HDMI switch. It has dealt with everything I've thrown at it. Also, if you look closely at a lot of these HDMI switches on the market, they look SUSPICIOUSLY similar. Heck, even the power supply with this ROOFULL was the exact same brand as the one that came with my SwitchDeck, 4K HDMI 2.0 Switch by Sewell, 3x1 Distribution Amplifier, 4K at 60Hz, 3D, HDCP 2.2, 4:4:4 Chroma . That one does not have full-manual switching, though. Overall, an easy 5 stars out of 5. Top notch.

I built a new PC and wanted to hook it up to my TV, an LG C2. Problem is the TV only has three input and I also have a Roku box, Xbox Series X, PS5, a Switch, and a sound bar. I'd been using a cheap manual HDMI Switch but it was a pain to have to change it everytime. I found this and decided to give it a try and must say I was pleasantly surprised. The device itself feels very premium, being encased in metal. Everything is plastic nowadays so it was a nice to see. It also two holes on each end, allowing you hang it up on the wall or screw it into something. HDMI cables can be very stiff so I will be attaching it to something. I tested it with a PC, PS5, and Xbox. I first turned on the PC and it automatically switched to that input. Great start! I shut the PC down and go to turn the PS5 on. It wasn't switching so I got a little worried until I noticed that while the screen showed nothing the fan lights in the PC were still on. Once it fully shut off it properly switched inputs. I then turned off the PS5 and turned on the Xbox and, again, it automatically switched inputs. It's doing exactly what I need it to do. I didn't hook up the Roku box to it as that seems to always stay on. I'm thinking if there's any signal being sent from the current input it won't switch to a new one. The soundbar will also retain its eARC-specific HDMI input so I can control the volume via the Roku remote. I also wanted to make sure it was properly doing 4K@120Hz, and HDR. I tested this with Apex Legends on the PS5. The HDR logo popped up in the corner starting up the game. I jumped into training and switched between quality (60Hz) and performance mode (120Hz). The TV showed the proper framerate for both settings. I don't have an 8K anything so I couldn't test that. My main concern was 4K@120Hz and HDR. Remote works fine but I'm hoping to not have to use it. I'm quite happy with it and would highly recommend it.

Bought 4 units, so far 2 of them stopped working properly in the last few weeks. Black pulsing screens on my XBOX Series X. When the XBOX is plugged directly into the TV, no issues. Once I plug it back into this switcher, random black flickering/pulsing screen. My 2nd unit that went bad around the same time has issues displaying black artifacting on the screen, once again, mainly with another XBOX Series X in another room in my house. Not the same flickering issue as the other defective unit, but still doing acting up after almost 1 year from purchase. I would stay away at this point.

HDMI switches seems to be a category that everyone goes out of their way to somehow screw up. I'm happy to report that this one seems to actually do its job correctly. First, it's a metal box with enough heft to stay in place fairly easily without needing to be taped down like other devices I've used in the past. Rubber feet are conspicuously missing, but it's really just fine without them. It may look a little retro to some (like an early 00's Ethernet switch), but I prefer the look of simple functional metal rectangles to a lot of the more modern plastic devices. Connections are on the back, lights are on the front...you can hook up all five ports without having stuff hanging out the front or the side. It's amazing how rare this is. The remote control, while very basic, has nice feeling discrete keys with a little bit of travel (exposed rubber membrane switches), instead of the cheap bubble-membrane typically associated with these devices. It also has discrete On/Off signals instead of a single Power Toggle signal, which is incredibly important for Harmony automation (see below) - pressing "On" twice won't turn it off. Worked perfectly out of the box with my Logitech Harmony, though I had to list the make/model as: "Awake Lion HDSW0015M1". The ROOFULL brand is written on the packaging, but nowhere on the device itself or instructions, and seems to just be a repackaging. Auto-switching works correctly without being over-aggressive to the point of making the device difficult to use, and can be turned off completely - though I've found Harmony integration still works perfectly without actually needing to disable auto-switch. Unlike most other switches I've used, this doesn't prohibit you from selecting a "dead" input, so it avoids pesky timing issues of switching inputs and powering up devices in the wrong order, or not waiting long enough for the HDMI signal to be available, etc. Similarly, it doesn't insist on auto-switching you to an active input when you turn off a device, allowing the "dead" input to remain selected until another input is newly enabled. This behavior is far less confusing and frustrating than most auto-switching implementations. In fact, the ability to turn off auto-switching was one of my primary motivations for buying this particular switch, so I'm impressed by the fact that it's non-intrusive enough for me to leave enabled. If unboxing is important to you, you'll find the packaging is fairly attractive, but the instructions are in hilariously bad English, and don't even mention a brand - there's no hiding that this is a no-name Chinese device. It has an Off light. The power LED glows green when the device is on, and red when it is in Off/Standby mode. It's not unreasonably bright, and not an issue for me, but I do know that "Off lights" are a point of frustration for many people, so I'll point it out here. And most importantly, full 4K HDR passes through on all ports, even with 10' cable runs, a claim that more expensive name-brand switches have made and failed to deliver on.

it does not work with any and all Apple Inc. I took this as a Hotel Conference projector set-up. With the rest of them, it works Except for the new model of Lenovo Laptop you have to change the project to Extended.

quality is not good... when seeing the video... if you check the direct HDMI clear video but with this unit.. no good. don't recommend it.

I've been using the unit a couple of weeks now, and unlike other switchers I've tried for the same setup, it works consistently and reliably. I'm not taking advantage of 4K (yet), just 1080p. I just wanted a simple switcher to share one HDMI port on the TV between a Nintendo Switch and PS4 but with room to add more devices. Other products I tried had issues with the screen flickering black occasionally or losing the audio. The Roofull worked right away, and has had no problems. I haven't even used the remote at all, as the auto-switching has worked perfectly.

To date works very well....
