Your drone goes to a facility in Los Angeles and they turn it around and send it back in 100% working order. Didn't even think it was that expensive considering. Alternative is to order the parts and do it yourself or have a local shop do it, but for the same money a DJI technician will repair. I prefer the latter. **Q: Are the extra batteries in the kits DJI authentic or off brand?** A: Hello Jim, The batteries I had in my kit were original. But I bought a kit that had a lot of accessories in mine.... also came with a custom fit backpack that held my drone and everything else. hope this helped you out...
