Fatal Frame

I had this game way back when it first came out. I honestly felt kind of let down and got bored with it so I gave it away. Now being 25 and much more mature I was able to appreciate this game for what it really is. I bought this game again on amazon.com and I was not disappointed. You play as a girl named Miku who has kind of a sixth sense and is able to feel ghosts around her. She is looking for her older brother who disappeared a few weeks back. Now the story is really not that original or sound that scary but I will admit I jumped at many many parts in this game. I actually had to pause it a few times to catch my breath. People looking for a fast paced action shooting game will most likely feel letdown with this game. It is a very slow paced game, and your only weapon is an old camera. That's right a camera. Now as corny as it sounds, it works very well. You have to take pictures of the ghosts in order to get rid of them. You can't shoot them, you really actually can't run. They do give chase and can go through walls. To have to stand there and face one of those ghosts, many are really freaky, is quite nerve racking in itself. The people who made this game really had a knack for knowing what makes people jump. The music can be creepy, and the ghost sounds are just freaky. I was quite pleased with this game the second time around after I played with an open mind. The story is not all that original, but the gameplay itself is and it feels fresh and new. I am a big fan of the Resident Evil franchise and Silent Hill franchise, but I think this game tops them in terms of scary. Resident Evil as really ventured off into more of a shooter game. Heavy on action and guns. Silent Hill is more just freaky and very puzzle driven. In terms of scary this one the best one. I recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a good spooky game, especially those who love ghost stories, and can appreciate the Japanese horror stories. This one has it all, jumps, frights, uneasiness. Play this with an open mind and don't expect action and you will not be disapppointed. I can't wait to buy and play the other 2.

A MUST PLAY for anyone with a PS2 looking for a different type of game, into being scared without gore. It's definitely a love/hate relationship for me! I'd actually bought this game back around 1999 or 2000 when I got my first PS2. I started playing and at first, while it was so scary it gave me goosebumps, it was also exciting to keep discovering items and progressing. I was able to continue for a while. It's not gory in anyway-you're essentially investigating a case in a haunted mansion equipped only with a special camera to see/battle/capture spirits or take photos of clues the naked eye can't fully detect-something might just look a little "odd" so you snap a photo-sometimes it's a clue-like a hidden doorway or puzzle piece, sometimes it's nothing and you've wasted precious film. As you explore, the "spirit sensor" light might start to glow, meaning there's a spirit nearby. With the rumble pack throbbing to your increased heartbeat, you might often get attacked from behind or in some cases, as you're frantically looking around through the view finder (the only way to see the spirits), you're being attacked near your feet. Anyway, I only got a little way into the game and was too scared to continue, traded it in. A few years later, I was totally in the mood for a different kind of game, THIS kind of game. Bought it, started playing it and almost got to the same place and quit once again, gave the game away to a friend. Finally, about 6 months ago, I once again felt like playing it, bought it and yes, shortly after reaching the same place (completely prepared for everything up to that point), I again got too frightened to keep playing. A friend of mine bought the release after this, which I also played, not nearly as scary for some reason. I like that it is a scary/adventure game, with ghosts and such, but not gory, in spite of the plot line.

For those of you who are survival horror fans the Fatal Frame series is a must have. Never before have I been on edge as much as I have been playing Fatal Frame. Resident Evil, while an amazing series, is nowhere near as scary or horrifying as the Fatal Frame games are. The gameplay in this game is one the the most unique of any game. You only have one weapon: a camera. This is no ordinary camera though, it is the Camerca Obscura, a supernatural camera invented for the soul purpose of seeing and exorcising spirits. Throughout the game you are able to find extensions that broaden the cameras capabilities as well as being able to power up the abilities already availible. One bit of advice to all who intend to buy this game: play this game at night with all the lights off. Trust me on this you will find the experience otherworldly if you play this game ONLY at night. This game and all the sequels that followed are possibly the best survival horror games I have ever played.

My roommate used to have this game and I played it halfway through. Now that it's well into the next console generation, I've been bored with some of the titles out there and went back and bought this game with a mind to finish it. It still impresses. I won't go into the plot, as many other people have explained except to say that you're a nearly helpless little girl with a camera trying to exorcise some pretty vicious ghosts, find her brother, and get out of the messed up mansion. That about covers it. At first you'll probably have your doubts. The premise feels a little silly, and the voice acting is truly atrocious(which is why i give it four stars instead of five). I could do better! Standards for voice acting could be so low then! It rates below bad anime. You feel the people reading the script. Also the controls can occasionally feel a bit sluggish, but nothing one can't get used to pretty quickly. However, once you get into the game, what it really has behind it is SUSPENSE. It has a great sense of pacing as you put around the mansion to search for the next thing that will allow you to make progress. What gets me is that there are a lot of false starts. Often times, you aren't totally sure whether a ghost you're seeing is harmless and meant to be a part of the plot, or whether it is the kind of ghost that will attack you. Half the time your hostile encounters are completely unpredictable. There's no sense of "Save before the boss". Sometimes you'll return to an area and there will be a hostile ghost. Sometimes nothing happens, but you'll hear things. All of this adds up to tension and I found myself getting completely jittery. I had a poster fall off a wall while playing this and nearly went through the roof I got so freaked out. Definitely one of the more underrated games out there. :) If you like survival horror, give it a go.

i have played every single silent hill game and i absolutely love this game! its really scary and the whole concept of using the camera to kill ghosts is awesome! the puzzles are not as in depth and unique as in silent hill but the gameplay and the storyline is awesome! if your a fan of survival horror games then you will love this game! i just bought the second and third one to complete the collection and can wait to play them! honestly being the gamer that i am i cant believe that i have never heard of this series before now because as much as i love silent hill and resident evil this game just blows them away! i was a little scared when i played silent hill 2 for the first time but this game is terror on a whole new level!

The game works just fine unfortunately it's not an original it's a third party reprint and not a collectible. A bit disappointing.

This is just a rewrapped game. Not a true sealed ps2 case. No reflective tape for the case. Very disappointing

This review is based on the seller, not the game itself: I purchased this game from the seller “Prime Shipping” under the “New” listing, and it has clearly just been repackaged. The inside of the case was dirty, and the manual is bent and creased. The disc seems to be in good condition, but this was clearly overpriced as it’s used and damaged.

Great. Works perfect in my ps2 slim. Brand new REPRINT. Not a bootleg, not an original print. Truly scarcy gameplay.

THis a very fun and scary game worth playing.

Game was in perfect condition!

Brand new copy, reprint, sealed

This game is fun and creepy.
