The handles are clearly rubber (a natural product), but the black foam appears toxic.** A: Thank you for your question. This is Tiger Tail USA - the manufacturer of the product. I am also the owner and founder responding directly. Our handles are actually NOT rubber. They are made from a specially formulated elastomer with zero added latex. We do not use naturally occurring rubber because of latex. The most famous source of natural latex is the rubber tree. Unfortunately, latex causes many allergic reactions so we do not use natural rubber. As far as the black foam goes, we use an advanced, specially formulated, non-phthalate, thermoplastic compound that has no naturally occurring or added toxins like neoprene, benzothiazoles, carba chemicals, thiurams, etc. We have chosen our materials and suppliers very carefully and screen for toxins through product content tests - and have done so for the orange grips and black foam.
