I love this mic! Sounds good, low noise, very directional. Ever since getting it I've used it for all my videoconferences. I have it on a mic boom just above my head about 12-18 inches away and it sounds very nice and clean. Allowed me to stop needing to wear headphones during conferences, I could just have the audio coming out of speakers.Aside from this, you can use the mic as a USB device with a PC or you can plug in an analog TRS or TRRS cable, it will automatically detect the configuration of the jack so you can use it with almost any device.I use it as a USB mic with my PC, in analog mode with a Sony A7R4 and have also used it as a USB-C mic with an iPad Pro and with an iIphone through Apples analog adapter. All worked and had great sound. The directionality of the mic will let you put it just below or just above you out-of-shot and still get good sound. It's not magic though, for best quality the rule with mics is "closer is better" You will probably get best results 1-2 feet away. Try to get closer if the person is a quiet talker. There are a few minor flaws with the USB mode. One is that the gain control knob has no effect in USB mode, you have to adjust volume levels with PC software which is not as convenient. Also the "safety channel" feature doesn't work in USB mode (this is where it records normal audio on one channel and the other channel 20db quieter, so you can recover audio in post production if it suddenly gets too loud and clips). Not sure why these don't work but it would be great if Rode could do a firmware update to fix it.Also the mic is supposed to work with an iPhone through a USB-C to lightning cable. I tried this with a high quality cable I have and it didn't work. Rode support says you have to use their UCB-C to lightning cable. Not sure why this is, maybe they have some active electronics in their cable. I just know I tried several good quality USB-C->lightning cables I had and they did not work.

I’ve been using Rode products for years and they always produce professional quality audio. This microphone is no different. I like how it isolates my subjects voices even at distance for interviews and still leaves just enough background sound to make it feel natural. The detail is noticeable and ads a layer of texture that makes my work feel just right. I’d compare this Mic to much higher priced shotguns in its class making it not only a professional setup but a good value for anyone that wants isolated hypercardioid Sound pickup patters in a small and valuable price point. Check this thing out you won’t lose out.

Quality Rode product. Sound and funtionality is great. Easy to use. Would buy again

Tl;dr: This is Rode masterpiece, a wonder for those who don't want to step yet into XLR shotgun microphones, but yet want to receive an amazing quality device, however, there will be some quirks for specialized use cases, (voiceover, streaming and podcasts) which would've made it the jack of all trades amongst shotgun mics.So here's the thing, this mic is a true workhorse, ready for most scenarios and use cases, from streaming to vlogging, recording interviews up to the point you can bring it into concerts (with some caveats), this mic will just do if you need a mic that does it all, this is it, don't put much thought into it… eeeeexcept, there are some things to consider if you won't have many usecases. What I mean is that if you are not going to do all those things, but just one specific scenario, such as streaming, there are better and cheaper options like ElGato Wave 3 or the ATR 2100x in case you have too much background noise. Why do I recommend those? Simple, for streaming, voiceovers, podcasts or most scenarios where the mic is just a few inches in front of your mouth, you will face the risk of overdriving the mic capsule and sound like if you were clipping, when clearly you are not, not even activating the -20db mode will prevent this and if you are a person who tends to talk loud or scream into the mic, I'm pretty sure you don't want to spook your viewers, not even adding a deadcat and the included foam will prevent this, though I recall, this happens if the mic is less than 15cm from your mouth, so yes a niche use case scenario but to keep in mind since the mic markets its USB C to USB mic capabilities, you won't be able to turn off the live feedback if you plug your headphones into it, so it can be quite distracting.Next to keep in mind is that these 3.5mm TRS/TRRS shotgun microphones from Rode tend to have a bass rich sound, in the case of the NTG, the signal is much cleaner and won't sound as muffled as previous models, however in comparison to Condenser Microphones, it will still be too much bass, with a low mix of mid and high tones, there are Low Cut Filters included, but for best results I recommend to keep the default signal and then do some EQ boosting the treble mostly, this way you can get a trully outstanding sound but it will add some steps and tweaking into post production which you will need to keep in mindThe most notable CON is the battery, though I love the function where it automatically turns on and off when you are using it with a camera, you don't have a way to monitor the battery life and is either pure luck or having to charge it more than usual to make sure it will turn on in set.I only set it to 4 stars to make clear the quirks you will have with this microphone and the lack of a function like clipguard on the Wave 3, which would've totally make this the best mic of all times or well, just behind the Sennheiser MKH 416, probably I'm asking too much for $250, but I'm sure someone will do it one day, hopefully its the Rode Videomic NTG mk2

The first mic I received was from this distributer on Amazon. Right when I got it, it was bugged. Wouldn’t properly turn on or recognize that it’s plugged in. I was super worried I was screwed, seeing as I got it from Amazon rather than from Rode’s shop. However, I emailed Rode and they were happy to help! Sent me a replacement and I returned the buggy one straight to them. Since then this mic has been awesome. Recording youtube videos on my Sony A6400, streaming live on twitch, and recording podcast episodes, this mic always fits the job. It’s extremely versatile and I love that I now have a mic that does all of the above. Best price for this quality too.

Totally unreliable. I just came home from a shoot and found several (8 out of 53) recordings without sound - yet there were recordings in "scenes" before and after. It seems that there is a LAG in its ability to reset fast enough if you record one after the other. I don't know how much lag it needs to reset but the fact is that it couldn't keep up with the camera itself (a Canon R6)Also, worst documentation ever. There are NO instructions for WHERE files are recorded to and how to retrieve after recording. Site was down for half a day so couldn't download RODE CENTRAL, no one answered published customer support phone. And 2nd time recording and there are NO RECORDINGS TO BE FOUND despite all systems go.Feel that their HOW TO is sorely lacking. Bizarre.Update:Just did ANOTHER SHOOT. And despite testing night before and day of shoot, the next 6 takes done in the first hour of the shoot either recorded NOTHING or just some hint of volume with hiss. I have no understanding as to why because I investigated but changed NOTHING, just did tests and THOSE worked. I just am out of theories as to what the problem is.Update:Rode replaced with a new one. I've lost audio ONCE with it and the audio quality is SUBPAR. I just don't understand what I could be doing wrong to get such an inferior outcome compared to the rest of the reviewers. I've used it more now on my R5C and bringing the video into Premiere - it is too loud and too much static. I've played with starting volumes 6 and 10 because when I did 0/1/2 on the first RODE I had, I couldn't hear the audio. This shouldn't require me to do testing for the best setting - any setting should yield something better than what I'm getting. But testing I will do!Update with replacement:I just did the first true test for a poolside shoot but ON CAMERA (no budget for sound op and couldn't swing another setup). I did several tests before shooting - and all gave me ZERO peace of mind. I told the actors to speak louder and went for it because I couldn't waste any more time testing and googling tips/advice in real time despite ALREADY having done this ahead of time.) I just don't how it can be so bad - it's worse than my in-camera sound. And even on RODE site, there is NOTHING, no tips, no information that tells you what anything DOES beyond what it ISHATE IT.

First off this thing is a killer on-camera mic. The pickup pattern is very tight. It's perfect for on-the-go interviews and just offers so much more than any of Rode's previous mics. I love the dual-channel feature where it sends a -20 dB to the right channel. It saves you in dynamic situations. I also have been using this wireless boom polemic for when I'm on solo interviews or a stripped-down documentary setup. I'll be buying another one to go with another Rode Wireless Go II kit. If you're a sound mixer these things would work great for plant mics or car kits when you don't have a transmitter with 48v. I also do a lot of zoom calls and the USB interface option is so quick and easy!

Perfeito, que audio incrivel.

Been using this mic for multiple years now, and it is the best value for the money for a shotgun mic. Excellent reach, excellent side-noise cancellation. I can leave the mic outside of the video frame, and still have the same sound quality as a podcast-type microphone.Rode mics are a bit on too high toned in general for my taste, vs Shure more toned-down color, but at that price, with USB output, there is just no competition with the VideoMic NTG.

Compared Zoom H1n vs Rode NT-USB vs. Rode VideoMic NTG. Placed them arm-length away (about 60cm from mouth), and read a passage. Then listened carefully.1) Zoom H1n: Most echo, and highest noise floor. Knob was set to 9.5.2) Rode NT-USB: 2x more presence then Zoom H1n, 2x less echo then Zoom H1n, 2x less noise floor, and more pleasant to (less harsh).3) Rode VideoMic NTG: 1.5 more presence then Rode NT-USB, 1.5x less echo then Rode NT-USB, and 0.5 less noise floor. Same pleasantness to listen to as Rode NT-USB.Meaning what? I've packed away the Rode NT-USB (as it's huge), and defaulted to to this VideoMic NTG as it's 1.5x better. Yes, it's negligible difference (for all purposes, their sound quality is the same), but since this NTG is so small, it's a lot more convenient to place top of a device (such as camera), then having a huge-heavy Rode NT-USB taking significant desk space.Best about VideoMic NTG: From a massive distance of 60cm from mouth, that it's able to make voice sound as if speaking only 10cm from a mic, is most impressive.

物流速度快！而且物流士很貼心的送到門口！不過此套裝沒有【毛毛防風罩】要注意，需要戶外錄影/有風聲絕對需要

As you may have check beforehand in Youtube (or probably not), this maybe the only mic you will ever need.In term of simplicity and versatility, I don't think you will find anything like it. Yes, Deity may have something quite similar in construction, perhaps almost on par in term of sound quality, but no...the RODE Videomic NTG have something thats not many other mini shotgun mic have...and thats the ability to connect directly via USB as a desktop microphone. Straight out of the box! No need to get audio interface, no need to find an XLR cable, no need to fuss about settings or whatever, just plug it in and it run just like that. In fact, you can connect this thing to any kind of devices you have (not your rice cooker or vacuum cleaner of course). You can connect it directly to your smartphone, you can connect it directly to your portable recorder. And the good news is, it still sounds fantastic. You need a mic with XLR output? I am pretty sure you can connect it via adapter. There are a lot feature to mention about it but I think the most important feature is that it will automatically turned ON and ready for recording when you connect it to a device/camera.The build is all metal, perhaps aluminum, but it doesn't make it prone to audio interference, and robust enough to handle tough job. Came with Rycote shock mount which is looking nice and perhaps the best shock mount in the market.I think this is the best sounding and overall versatility Vlog mic, and it doesn't sound bad at all for interviews, podcast or voice over work, at a relatively affordable price (I bought mine at a good bargain of £154). Definitely, highly recommended.
