My first set was not the plastic lid type but was a rose gold finish which wore off with cleaning and impacts over 5 years or so. This version with the plastic lid is cheaper and superior in my opinion due to the abuse the lids will take. All four that I have owned have made the noise others mentioned when opened, but it’s never been an actual durability problem- you get used to it. Never bothered me. These use standard 13 gal bags. Costco ones fit great. HOWEVER the bags that SimpleHuman sells are some of the most insanely strong/tear proof bags. I keep some on hand for when that’s warranted. I love that I can open the bottom portion of the lid (which hides and secures the bags) and it will stay open while cooking etc. This system of pinning the bag down is so much better than any cans with a plastic liner to fiddle with. My only other discovery with these cans is the bump out in the back for the hinges/handle/bags does stick out considerably and I found it rubbed against the wall when the cans would get pushed back from use. It did leave scuffs. I’ve solved this problem with a length of 2x4 behind the base that spaces it perfectly and is unobtrusive. I could see how that would irritate some- but it also makes a nice holding slot for flattened cardboard before I have time to take it out. My first set would have lasted me forever had I not knocked one over and cracked off a piece of the hinge mechanism. Totally my fault. But I realized at that time these have a 10 year warranty and I had forgotten to register them, so don’t forget to do so- but I was happy to invest the money in replacements and use the remaining good one elsewhere in my home. I love these garbage cans and I will evangelize about them to anyone who wants to talk garbage cans. Buy them! Review: Good Purchase - I highly recommend this garbage can. It’s lightweight, sturdy and has a simple yet smooth design. Much better choice than many other cheap products that fall apart over a few months. ## Features - LINER RIM SYSTEM, NO INNER BUCKET: Stainless steel rim grips the liner directly and keeps it hidden — 25% more space for trash, faster liner changes, no clumsy bucket to fumble. - 150,000-STEP STEEL PEDAL BUILT TO OUTLAST 20+ YEARS: Engineered for over 150,000 steps — that's more than 20 steps a day for two decades of busy kitchen use. - LID SHOX QUIETS THE BUSIEST KITCHEN: Patented motion control delivers a slow, silent close every time — no slamming, no banging when the room is moving. - LINER POCKET STORES 20 LINERS INSIDE THE CAN: Dispenses custom-fit liners one by one from inside the can — never search for a fresh bag again. - CODE M CUSTOM FIT LINERS: Tailored to fit this can perfectly — extra-thick, double-seamed, no bunching, no slipping, no messy bag overhang. - BRUSHED STAINLESS STEEL WITH 45-DAY ODORSORB POD: Invisible silver-ion coating resists fingerprints and water spots — plus a complimentary odorsorb pod eliminates trash odors for 45 days. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0815X9RSG | | Additional Features | Soft Close, Dent Resistant, Portable, Sturdy, Pedal, Motion Sensor, Dual Compartment, Quiet Close | | Best Sellers Rank | #4,002 in Industrial & Scientific ( See Top 100 in Industrial & Scientific ) #21 in Commercial Trash Cans #26 in Kitchen Waste Bins | | Brand | simplehuman | | Brand Name | simplehuman | | Capacity | 45 liters | | Color | Brushed Stainless Steel (with Plastic Lid) | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 4,935 Reviews | | Finish Type | Brushed | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00838810023021 | | Included Components | Trash Can, Code M Liner Trial Pack, Odorsorb Pod Starter Pack, 10-Year Warranty | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 15.9"L x 13.3"W x 25.8"H | | Item Type Name | 12 Gallon Liter Rectangular Hands-Free Kitchen Step Trash Can with Soft-Close Lid, Brushed Stainless Steel with Plastic Lid | | Item Weight | 12.9 pounds | | Manufacturer | simplehuman | | Material | brushed stainless steel with plastic lid | | Material Type | brushed stainless steel with plastic lid | | Opening Mechanism | Step-On | | Recommended Uses For Product | Cooking-heavy households that go through liners fast, Daily kitchen trash routines in busy households, Liner-rim convenience without an inner bucket to fumble, Open-concept kitchens where the trash can sits in plain view, Premium kitchens with stainless steel appliances Recommended Uses For Product Cooking-heavy households that go through liners fast, Daily kitchen trash routines in busy households, Liner-rim convenience without an inner bucket to fumble, Open-concept kitchens where the trash can sits in plain view, Premium kitchens with stainless steel appliances See more | | Room Type | Kitchen | | Shape | Rectangular | | UPC | 838810023021 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** simplehuman - **Capacity:** 45 liters - **Color:** Brushed Stainless Steel (with Plastic Lid) - **Finish Type:** Brushed - **Material:** brushed stainless steel with plastic lid - **Opening Mechanism:** Step-On - **Room Type:** Kitchen - **Shape:** Rectangular - **Special Feature:** Soft Close, Dent Resistant, Portable, Sturdy, Pedal, Motion Sensor, Dual Compartment, Quiet Close ## Images ![Rectangular Step Can, 45L / 12 Gallon Kitchen Trash Can, Liner Rim System, Liner Pocket®, 150,000-Step Pedal, Lid Shox® Silent Close, Brushed Stainless Steel with Grey Plastic Lid - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71tjJKWSdJL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: How does the liner pocket and rim system work?** A: The liner pocket holds a refill pack of Simplehuman custom fit liners. Much better choice than many other cheap products that fall apart over a few months. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality Trash Can Worth Every Penny! *by S***D on May 3, 2026* This is my second time purchasing a simplehuman trash can, and it continues to exceed my expectations. The quality and design of this product are top-notch—durable, sleek size was well thought out for everyday use. The lid mechanism works smoothly and quietly, and it does a great job containing odors with simplehuman odorsob pods. It’s a bit of an investment, but in my experience, it’s absolutely worth it for the longevity and functionality. ## Frequently Bought Together - simplehuman 45 Liter / 12 Gallon Liter Rectangular Hands-Free Kitchen Step Trash Can with Soft-Close Lid, Brushed Stainless Steel with Plastic Lid - simplehuman Code M 100 Count, Genuine Custom Fit Liners, Drawstring Trash Bags in Dispenser Packs, 45 Liter / 11.9 Gallon, White - simplehuman Odorsorb Pod All-Natural Odor-Absorbing System Starter Pack --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/172287441-rectangular-step-can-45l-12-gallon-kitchen-trash-can-liner](https://www.desertcart.no/products/172287441-rectangular-step-can-45l-12-gallon-kitchen-trash-can-liner) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
