It is probably more thorough than your professor, but you can pick and choose which sections you want to read. It's not set up so that you must read the entire thing front he start. They have a case index that can be useful if you want to see what you're reading is in the book. Additionally, the general index in the back is extremely helpful. My only critique is that one subject might be discussed in multiple sections of the book, causing you to flip lots of pages and speed read quite a bit.
