What is the retreival?

6 to 1 we use them for king mackerel tournaments .

What is 13.8 doesnt make sense shimano has a 12A 14A so on

The "a" designates a narrowed spool. The 12 is the size.

Is this reel suitible for surf casting for bottom fishin? I have a 11' surf rod to throw at least 60 yards?

Surf casting for bottom fishing? You mean like dunking (throwing out a bait with a lead line and leaving it there till fish bites?) if so, then yes. More than suitable, this is the Rolls Royce of bait casting reels. I’ve got the older Trinidad 30 and 50 reels and bought a couple of the newer 30’s last year. Super smooth, solid drag, light weight, holds good line. Older reels I’ve had 10+ years and they’re still near perfect functionally. I’m in Hawaii, use these reels on custom surf rods 10-14’, targeting Ulua (giant trevally). On a good day, will cast out close to 100yds with 60lb mono. If you’re not used to casting a conventional reel, go start with a cheaper Penn senator to practice.

Is this reel good for striper bass fishing?

I use this reel for red snapper and amber jack and it’s amazing.good retrieving and the drag is smooth.
