I not 100% sure but am guessing when these get renewed and or get new hardware replaced in them it takes that away. I had read that 20-60 GB were backwards compatible. So I thought that’s what I was getting. If that’s what you are wanting make sure it’s right in the description. I think if they truly are they will be higher priced. Just my opinion. I returned mine for a refund. **Q: Is it backwards compatible?** A: If it doesn’t say it in the description. I wouldn’t trust it to be. **Q: Backward compatible?** A: No sorry only the 20 gb 60gb models issued at launch are compatible with ps2 chips the 80 gb has emulation software to make it comparable with ps2 all modlesare compatible with ps2.just remember if you get an 80 gb you have to download the software via the internet. **Q: Does this have wifi I need the early version with no wifi** A: It does have wifi the only version that does not have wifi is the 20 gb model that came out at ps 3 launch ## Frequently Bought Together - PlayStation 3 40GB System (Renewed) - OKHAHA Controller 2 Pack for PS3 Wireless Controller for Sony Playstation 3, Double Shock 3, Bluetooth, Rechargeable, Motion Sensor, Remote for PS3 (No Stripes(Black + Black)) - Call of Duty: Black Ops II - PlayStation 3 (Renewed) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/163365714-playstation-3-40gb-system-renewed](https://www.desertcart.no/products/163365714-playstation-3-40gb-system-renewed) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-10-12*
