NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi USB Adapter (WNA3100)

From my experience NetGear products are superb. Our home network works off of a Netgear 3400 router which runs a lap top, tower, and Roku. In addition the range extenders work wonderfully as well and have eliminated dead spots throughout the house. Recently I inherited another Desk top but getting it to connect to our network our ISP was a major headache, time consuming and in the end an exercise in futility. I thought an external wireless adapter might do the trick so I ordered the NetGear N300 USB adapter - and Viola! The computer was connected and online in minutes. Remember not to install the adapter until prompted. Installation gives you two choices - the plug N' Go which requires you to press the reset button on the adapter and within two minutes press the reset button on the router I did this a few times but never got a connection. The other way which I found easier is to choose manual - all you do is enter your pass phrase for your network and or router and that's that - instant connection! Included in the box is the N300 adapter,The USB cable and cradle and cable, the resource CD and related paper work i.e.: easy start instructions, warrantee (one year) and so on. If you're looking for an effortless way to connect a computer to your home or office network and want to avoid the headaches often associated with doing so this little gizmo is brilliant. The price on Amazon can't be beat - roughly a 40% discount and if you have a Prime membership you get two day shipping for free - making the deal on this excellent adapter just that much sweeter.

I purchased this particular adapter on the recommendation of a friend. There were other adapters that were less costly, but I went with this brand for its reputation as my friend recommended. I installed this on an older desktop running Windows XP Professional / Intel Pentium 4 processor. The desktop is a few rooms away from where my wireless router is now located so I could no longer connect via ethernet cable. The NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi USB Adapter allowed me to make this machine wireless. The install was clean and problem free. The adapter gives me a strong signal even with my router three rooms away. I've been using it for about six weeks and so far it has had no connection problems and has never dropped the signal. I am very satisfied with this product and it was a relatively low cost way to get my old desktop back online.

Replacement for one similaire. Didn't work in my computer but did work in my mother's computer,so didn't go to waist. Very nice to have if you don't have a Ethernet cable to connect to your device.

The netgear wirless-n adapter is a good product. It is much faster as advertise where I can browse the internet allot faster. The downside of the adapter is the adapter doesn't work good if I am at the library and using their wireless network where it can go intermittent for long periods of time. However at home the adapter works great and the range around the house is great too. The adapter has a tendency to overheat on the network rocker that it comes with therfore you have to take it off the rocker so it won't overheat when you not using your computer. Another tedious problem with the adapter when your laptop is in sleep mode and you open your laptop back up you have to take the adapter off the network rocker momentarily and set it back on the rocker again to make your network connection work again. Overall I am satisfy with the wireless adapter the speed is allot faster than my internal network adapter on my laptop. I only pointed out the flaws so people can know what they are getting when they purchase this product; otherwise I am please with the product.

Works like a charm!! Using this for my home network to connect my laptop to our main PC (HOST). Previously connected the laptop via Netgear WNR 2000 router for several years without a problem. Unfortunately I suddenly ran into a problem with the laptop connecting successfully to the network. I'm not a techy geek to say the least, but feel my tech skills are moderate and I'm always able to fix any connectivity issues without getting frustrated by calling Comcast for support help to get transferred to all over to various countries and get disconnected at least twice during the hour long attempt!! I will not continue on that topic and the amount of money I pay to Comcast each month, which due to their "customer appreciation" for having me as a VALUED CUSTOMER (makes me wonder how they would treat me if I wasn't VALUED!!) includes their useless customer support team that requires me to explain the same issue over and over (prior to sitting on hold for 20 mins +, I'm asked to providie my name, billing address, account number, last four digits of SSN...). To make my long agonizing story short, I wish Comcast would follow Amazon's phenomenal business practice of amazing service!!!! I ordered this aat 3:00 p.m. and got it the very next day and was amazed how simple this was to get up and running on the network. From box to internet connectivity in less than 10 mins. If you aren't sure about this little gadget working for you, ignore the negative reviews and remember if you purchase it from Amazon you can always return it if it doesn't work for you. As a final note, I've had this item for only 4 days and hope that I don't run into any future problems with it working. Will update this review if I do experience any issues with the performance.

Works just fine

Couldn't get it to work, even with competent outside help. And seriously, what are you doing in 2026 sending CDs that must be installed before you can use the product? How many computers are being sold with CD drives these days? Even after downloading the driver from the Netgear website, rather than using the CD, we couldn't get it to work.

Originally, I gave this device 2/5 stars because it stopped working after 15 - 25 minutes and never worked with the docking extender... I had issues with other USB devices, and began suspecting my motherboard (ASUS). After building another new computer and testing it on that one, I had zero issues, so this device was not at fault; It was the motherboard on my computer. So, this deserves 5 stars. It has worked flawlessly on the other computer I built with a MSI board. So, if you have an ASUS M5A99FX Revision 2, and are experiencing issues with your USB devices, it's the motherboard; Replace it. Other people have experienced similar issues, sadly. ---- This Netgear device is fast, has a great range, and I am very happy with it. Thanks!

The "one touch" setup worked first time with my Virgin modem/router however the adapter did not work the next time the pc was booted.I could not set the adapter up thereafter with the "one touch" setup and had to manualy configure it.This was straight forward and easy.I have been using the adapter since Feb 2012 and ecountered no problems.I bought a second adapter too for my nephew,again worked fine,I highly reccomend this product.

I ordered this product on the Amazon Website when I discovered that my new BT Infinity Wireless Router (Upgrade) would be installed on the Ground Floor. My 4 year old PC is situated on the 1st Floor. The product arrived in 4 days (from order) and was easy to install. My Internet connection had been upgraded earlier in the day and within 10 Minutes of receipt of the Netgear Wireless N300 USB Adapter, my old PC was working perfectly using the Wireless connection.

Purchased this for sons PC in bedroom , quite a distance from the router. Since day one it has worked and we have had no issues - connects first time every time and the speed is good. The software is easy to use and straight forward. Would strongly recommend.
