Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (Black)

I have no complaints about this keyboard. It looks amazing, great tactile feedback, keys feel great on the fingers, LCD panel is wicked cool, great media controls. You don't have to be a gamer to use this keyboard, I use it all the time for everyday stuff, I play some games here and there but I didn't get it just for gaming I got it because I have a few uses for the LCD and I just wanted a cool, but functional keyboard that I can type for hours. After I got this keyboard I think I can even type faster than I did on my old keyboard, that's how amazing it is. My old keyboard was pretty loud and people could hear it from other rooms in the house, I can even hear it over my music and games. I got this keyboard and I can't hear it over music or games, and I haven't got a compliant yet that it's loud, thats because it isn't! It's so quiet! I had this keyboard for a little while now I haven't I don't have any keys wearing off, as what some people say. Plus, who knows what people do to their keyboards! I really love how the keys are placed out, and the back lighting works really well! Some people like the blue but I really like the amber color because it's really soft and easy on the eyes. The macro keys works wonderfully and I love that I can record them on the fly. The only three complaints that I have is the wrist wrest doesn't screw on and can feel a little cheap to some, but it's not a big deal. The other complaint is the software that comes with the keyboard. "Logitech GamePanel" I mean it's not that bad as what other people say, but I totally needs some work. Sometimes I will have to restart my computer to get the media display working right. But it wasen't worth taking a star off because I should restart my computer every now and then, since I leave my computer on 24/7. The Final complaint is the 1.1USB ports on the back, I mean they could of done sometimes a little better to make them 2.0 and powered, but I didn't bother taking a star off because I don't use them anyways! Anyways, this is a excellent keyboard! I highly recommend it if you are looking for a new keyboard. Also, I remember checking out this keyboard at Best Buy and it was $99.99 + the 7% tax we have here, it would be a total of 106 dollars. And I picked it up on amazon for around 70 dollars. Now thats a good deal!

I have had this board for about 3 weeks now and I had my last one for 6 years. I never thought it was worth the money to get a keyboard so I just kept my old one till it was just having some conflicts. I am glad I waited to get this board and not the old G15 because I want one that fits and looks like a regular keyboard. The Display is so usefull, I like the hardware monitor andthe count down timer is so handy. Also the media player is great. While in a game or while waiting for the computer to do something I can view the performance information and it will show me what the computer is doing, or if its stuck. IT WILL SHOW A SEPARATE BAR FOR EACH CORE, I HAVE A QUAD CORE AND ITS NICE TO SEE WHICH PROGRAMS USE ALL 4 CORES AND WHICH ONES DON'T. I tried the program buttons and it was very easy, I just don't need them but if you like hot keys they make it so easy. I made one for creating new folders and now I just press one button and... wham!, a new folder. Simple I know but thats what this board is all about. Best Feature: Lighted keys, ALL KEYS. There is a light adjustment button as well. MYTH: volume keys are great even though some people here make it sound like they are cheap. They are not cheap and work very well, however its not a dial.... you choose. BAD: 2 USB ports, however they aren't good for anything that needs the usual USB power. Bottom Line: Great Board, feels nice and has full size keys that "click" like a desktop not a laptop. Very durable and I don't expect the keys to wipe off because they are etched. Should last another 6 years. Have Fun

They say that this is a gaming keyboard. I'm not too sure I can agree that much. The true "gaming" nature of the keyboard is the available 6 "G-keys", as well as on the fly macro recording. The g-keys themselves are as advertised. You can program them to do whatever macros you want them to. By far, I've found the G-keys more useful OUT of gaming sessions than inside. I personally find launching programs and folders with one simple key really useful. In fact, I've already mapped out all my G-keys to a function, whether its opening My Documents, hdd partitions, Word, MPC, Chrome, Utorrent whatever. So even if you're not a gamer, these keys really do come to good use! less clicks=better productivity. Then again, there are other keyboards out there with G-keys. I do want to say the LCD is quite a gimmick. The only two default "apps" that I've found useful thus far is the LCD clock and the profile selector. Since then, I've experimented with numerous apps, and only found 2-3 at most to be useful for my gaming/music needs. Check out "WVS - A media player visualization plugin," by far the best app that I've found for the LCD. Who doesn't like blinking lights matching your tunes, yeah! A word about the led-backlighting. Yes, its nice, and the orangish color is very pleasing. Looking from top down, the lighting is very clear and bright. But from a typist's angle, the lighting is washed out and dim, especially those that are right in front of you. I've heard that newer Logitech keyboards use laser-etched backlighting that is better than the one used in the G15. And its not the quietest keyboard either. Also don't forget that the included 2 USB ports on the back of the keyboard is USB 1.1 rates only, so don't even think about plugging in a flashdrive/hdd or usb gaming mouse! But I still recommend this keyboard, if only for the G-keys and the LED blacklighting. The LCD is overall meh.

Pro: I originally didn't buy this keyboard because I thought it was just a regular one with a few novelties. I was wrong. The 3 sets of 6 (very easily programmed) macro keys are extremely handy. I also thought the screen was just a toy. After downloading updated software it can do quite a bit. It has a countdown timer, stopwatch, rss feed for news etc., time and date, cpu and ram monitors among other things. I also like how my Xfire messages come up on it's screen. It's light but feels well built. Multi-media keys around the screen are nice. The windows key lockout is awesome. I have had the Merc and Merc Stealth keyboards and thought I wouldn't be able to go without the gamepad section but after using this I can't go back. It looks sweet to boot. I highly recommend this keyboard. Con: The clip on wrist rest is kinda flimsy, but I don't think it needs one to begin with. If you aren't at a desk it won't stay on very well. I use my keyboard in my lap (monitor is hdtv) so I left it off. I personally liked the blue color of the older version better but they say that orange is easier on the eyes. Why not have a color change ability like my merc? This version's lcd is hard mounted and not adjustable like the old one. Other: The older version has a larger lcd but the newer one is higher resolution so that is kind of a wash. Also the older version has double the macro keys but I don't really see this a con since I haven't used up my macro keys on any profiles and double would just be more things to remember. If you don't want to spend the money on the G-19 for the color lcd then this is the keyboard for you.

I don't know where to start with this keyboard. I had it for a week before I returned it for a verity of reasons which I would call defects. Having a bunch of keys for macros is nice, but hitting one of your macro keys every time you try to press control is a bit much. This problem can be solved by making a profile with no macros assigned, but if you do this, what is the point of having macro keys in the first place? The lcd screen is a nice touch, but it's really only good for controlling your music while in game, it has an RSS feed component, but who wants to read news off of a tiny screen on their keyboard? What really pissed me off was how unresponsive the keys were. I would be playing Team Fortress 2 and my character would stop moving forward. At first I thought it was my imagination, lag or something right? Well it actually turns out that unless you press the key all the down as far as it goes, the keyboard doesn't register the key stroke. So while it appeared that I was pressing the "w" key to move forward, the keyboard wasn't registering the key stroke. The best way to describe the keys on this keyboard is "mushy" or "unresponsive." When I realized that it was the keyboard getting me killed, I unplugged it and put it back in the box. Amazon returns took it back no questions asked. I went back to using my 7 year old Microsoft media keyboard, which no one would call a "gaming" keyboard, but at least it has keys that register when I press them and I don't accidentally hit any extra keys when I'm playing games. This keyboard fails. I can't believe it has so many positive reviews. It is an absolute piece garbage and to call it a gaming keyboard is a joke.

I've owned now the original Blue version of this keyboard and two, yes two, of the orange. This tends to be my go-to keyboard of choice as the feedback from the keys is just wonderful. I can type a slight bit faster on these keyboards than other keyboards (which is saying something since I figured I had capped out). The memory functions for the G keys is fun, I like to create simple loops to help my hands in WoW. Likewise being able to turn the windows button off is super helpful. Other keys can be mapped in programs to do other things as well (like the media keys up top). The screen uses LUA scripting now, I don't really play with it but I like being able to see the time at the drop of a hat. My complaints though are two fold, small but problems still. The legs that the keyboard stands with are extremely fragile and Logitech doesn't stock replacements (I'd have been willing to buy them) and the keys themselves are extremely fragile around the bottom edges. I was removing them to clean the keyboard, something I've done with roughly a hundred keyboards (it was one of those jobs folks suckered us into a lot at CC and BB...yeah I worked at both in the last five or so years :( ), and the alt key shattered like I had pried at it with a crowbar! I was shocked and very disheartened. These keys also cannot be replaced, you'd have to replace the entire keyboard which is a supreme shame. I'd be willing to spend 50 cents to a dollar per key on this sort of thing. I'm sure others would too. Otherwise! It is a fantastic keyboard, I have been using it for quite a while now and really don't see the purpose of using any other keyboard.

So I've used this particular keyboard for awhile; it has these strengths durability, back lighting, and features. To go into more detail though it has a few major draw backs especially for it's classification of a 'Gamer Keyboard'. First, the key response isn't up to par with mechanical keyboards. When their is a lot of keys being thrown really quick; the keyboard eventually creates a lag. Which in a game; can be life or death. Second, the LCD doesn't have nearly the functionality you'd want. The savings is substantial compared to the G510; but the G510 creates a greater versatility and customization for the LCD Display Screen. Third, the support for an array of games just isn't there. Some of the integration you'd expect; isn't. If the game is available; it's a nice integration and makes you resent the lack of integration when playing other games. The keyboard does have solid strength though; the Macro Manager allows you to create key-strokes to get around games that don't support LUA which the script editor is awesome for. The Macro manager can get slightly annoying and tedious inputting delays; button-clicks; and so fourth because the game doesn't support LUA. The durability is awesome with the USB Hub built into the keyboard; which is nice if you want easy access for USB Headphone / Mic for the night-time. Overall it's a great keyboard; but for gaming it's sub-par. For multimedia and other office style functions; it's actually really nice.

I was searching for a keyboard that I could use in the dark. I first tried one that is blue (not a logitech) it proved to be a one star rated keyboard. Now this G15 from Logitech is awesome!!!! The feel is fantastic. Fits my finger and hands just perfect. The hand rest is great. I am a lazy typer so it works great for me. I don't play any of the online games it is famous for but just for the multiple programable keys and the LCD screen it is worth it. I do however play Ogame and the function of the two timers is great. Helps me keep track of fleet movements and mine building times. This is a fantastic keyboard and I recommend it to everyone even folks who don't play games. I am having one problem however and that is one of the timer buttons is not working and I am sure it will be replaced/fixed soon. The software that comes with the keyboard is super easy to use. Lots of options for setting up the games, timers, your clock. So if you have the money this keyboard is well worth the 5 pizzas it would cost instead of this keyboard and I know you will get more enjoyment out of this keyboard than the pizzas.
