If you were thinking of impregnating leather with this stuff for stropping, I honestly couldn't say if that would or wouldn't work. Have you considered Tormek paste for that kind of application? I have used that with leather for stropping. Turns the leather pink, but it works. **Q: Is this metal grinding compound "water" based?** A: No it is not. The product is grease based. **Q: Can this work for Reel Mower blades? Can you just put it on the blades and push the mower, to sharpen it?** A: Yes will work on push mowers.
