### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best strainer I've used.
*by M***N on November 4, 2019*

First impression: out of the box I was surprised at the sturdiness. This is not thin metal that will crunch when you step on it. It's got a lot of weight to it, for its size. I bought this because of its similarity to a favorite plastic hair catcher that I've been using for years. The plastic one was great, but hard to clean and prone to mildew. This one works as well as the plastic one, but it's much easier to clean and (so far) not at all prone to mildew. The detachable basket in the middle was a mystery that I hoped would be explained with the package insert, but in the end I had to figure it out for myself. My guess is that it's removable to enable the use of a pop-up stopper that bathtubs often use. My tube had one installed, but I never take baths (shower only. I know it sounds funny to say I never take bathes. Let's not misconstrue), so I removed it years ago. The strainer seats better if the existing stopper or built-in strainer is removed, first. That way the basket nests inside of the drain a little, and the strainer stays more firmly in place. The bottom of the strainer has a silicon gasket to prevent it from sliding around, or prevent hair and water from passing beneath, or to prevent it from scratching the tub, etc. Captured hair comes to a rest gently against the strainer, so it's easy to remove without having to cut and pry it off. As long as hair isn't permitted to accumulate excessively, water drains freely. Brush with a soft-scrub cleanser once every week or two to remove soap scum and bring back its shine. Right now, it's the nicest-looking part of my shower tub. I wish the rest of it could look as nice. This is the best strainer I've found. I can't think of a single way it could improve.
