## Description

Wilson shot a glance over his right shoulder at San Ramon. In addition to the blinking of anti-aircraft artillery guns, he could see clouds of smoke on the field from the numerous Slash hits. Breathing through his mouth, he concentrated on getting fast and maintaining a slight climb. Bright fireballs of AAA shot by him in groups of three and four, orderly trails from low to high. His body was tense, ready for impact. He felt and heard the thud behind, on his right. Terrified, he twisted his body in the ejection seat to see what he could, pushing his helmet and goggles with his left hand to see over his wing. Through the narrow field of view of the goggles, he sensed flickering behind him. He then felt the airplane yaw right. Both were signs he had lost thrust on the right side. Sonofabitch!

Review: Intense Adventure - Started a bit slow, but Miller was setting up an important theme that later crowned the ending. The flying scenes were detailed, intense, and mesmerizing. I really appreciated the launches, landings, and combat flying. As a pilot (but not a naval aviator) I felt like I was in the cockpit and fully engaged in flying every second. Miller has a way of ratcheting up the action, and just when you think it is peaking, two or three more evolutions take you over the top. A great read.
Review: Acronyms Explained - In his first novel the author, a retired Naval Aviator, used a huge amount of naval acronyms and readers were forced to go back and forth to see what they meant. I spent 26 years in the Navy with time served on a carrier and even I was forced to look back to see what they meant. In he second book (this one) he gives the reader the full name of the acronym then goes back and used it in short. He must have had feed back for this change which was a very good one. The story line is very interesting and you can continue to follow along with the protagonist and his merry of aviators on a new carrier. Although some would tell you the story is implausible I would tell you that is is a "fiction" story so just read and enjoy.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Takes Raven One to the next level
*by B***S on September 21, 2026*

This is a great follow on to the first book. While I thoroughly enjoyed Raven One I thought the author went into little much detail and specific vocabulary around flying from a carrier and aerial tactics. He certainly knows his stuff. This book has a great and surprising story line with really fleshed out characters. And not so many that it is confusing. He also cut back on the aeronautical details to make it easier for a non military reader like me. I learned a lot about life on a carrier and the air wing. I will definitely be moving on the next book
