What material is are he capes?

The capes are made of Polyester.

do they work with mega construx?

They should work exceptionally well with Mega Construx. Their hands are set to the same grip size as Lego Minifigs, so there should be no problems.

Are there minifigures that I can buy

Yes! I ordered LEGO accessories from Amazon and my 11 year old loved them!

I'm bombarded with many armor kits, but where are the bulk Minifigures to put the armor onto?

Mine was a gift for someone so I no longer have it. When I looked, I thought there were some mini figures in it.
