Blending rich historical fiction with riveting adventure and a truly epic love story, here are the first four books of Diana Gabaldon’s New York Times bestselling saga that introduced the world to the brilliant Claire Randall and valiant Highlander Jamie Fraser: OUTLANDER DRAGONFLY IN AMBER VOYAGER DRUMS OF AUTUMN Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743. Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives. Praise for Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels “Marvelous and fantastic adventures, romance, sex . . . perfect escape reading.” — San Francisco Chronicle , on Outlander “History comes deliciously alive on the page.” —New York Daily News , on Outlander “Gabaldon is a born storyteller. . . . The pages practically turn themselves.” — The Arizona Republic , on Dragonfly in Amber “Triumphant . . . Her use of historical detail and a truly adult love story confirm Gabaldon as a superior writer.” — Publishers Weekly , on Voyager “Unforgettable characters . . . richly embroidered with historical detail.” — The Cincinnati Post , on Drums of Autumn Review: High-falutin' word choice, sometimes vexing, 100% worth reading - Five stars for a well-written story, a saucy "voice", and wonderfully-built/sympathetic characters. That said, I'm going to state what is probably going to be an unpopular opinion among fans: she often throws in big words that aren't necessary. Let me explain: sometimes, when there are three or four perfectly acceptable descriptors, she will choose a fifth that is so esoteric than even an English teacher has to pick up a dictionary. Writing "peregrinations", for instance, when ruminations, meanderings or even simple ponderings would have done quite well and satisfied an educated reader. There are times when I just say to myself (in a Scottish brogue, of course), "Keerist, woman. Put down the thesaurus, already, and come back to bed. I'm well and fully knackered." Also, don't nibble young pokeweed greens unless they have been repeatedly blanched. A pokeweed "salad" should not be raw unless you want GI troubles. I wish the author had done a little more research on medicine of the era. It's sometimes frustrating but not if you don't know. Just... Don't look at Claire's knowledge of folk healing as anything but fiction 😂 I would still read it again 😂 Edit to review the mechanics of paper and binding: mass paperback is much different from 20 years ago. It splits at the binding and pages fall out. Your fingers will turn black from the ink. It is still a bargain in this economy to pay $6 per book, and it is an enjoyable read. But if you know somebody with hot glue skills, it might be necessary. Just saying. Edit to add: she switched from first person to first and third. It is a little confusing because she'll start a section with "he" or "she" and you read a page or more before you know who she's following. I guess she writing for screenplay, now. Still good. Still five stars. Still worth the purchase to read. Review: Great books, great Author!!! - Im so excited and very happy with this purchase. The books arrived quickly and in great condition!! I almost didn't buy them as I've read a lot of not so good reviews. Glad I didn't listen!!! Some people said they didn't like how small the books where, I love it!, as I have small hands Would definitely recommend if your not sure about getting them. These books have a lot of explicit content and it could be triggering for some, some of the content but overall It is the Greatest Love and informational book series, i can't get enough of Diana Galbadon did such an amazing job with this series 👏🏽 🥰 ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #9,144 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #25 in Time Travel Romances #132 in Historical Fantasy (Books) #582 in Paranormal Fantasy Books | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 out of 5 stars 13,253 Reviews | ## Images ![OUTLANDER BOX SET, Books 1-4 - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81rO3YX4+0L.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ High-falutin' word choice, sometimes vexing, 100% worth reading *by M***Y on July 18, 2026* Five stars for a well-written story, a saucy "voice", and wonderfully-built/sympathetic characters.
