OM SYSTEM Olympus PT-059 Underwater Housing for TG-Series Cameras

I bought this housing after using the camera whilst snorkelling regularly for almost 6 months. I was very pleased with the results but wanted to take the camera diving so needed the housing. I’ve used it quite a few times now and have had nothing but success with it. It is easy to use, solid and totally water tight. I find it easy to clean and seal and like the lock on the closure wheel. I can even operate the wifi without taking the camera out of the housing which i didn’t expect. I have a Los let my kids use it and they have found it very easy to use too. I previously had a series of Sony cyberhsots with housings and think this is better and easier to use. I’m glad I didn’t go for the cheaper generic housing because the flash is important. Once I can afford to buy the strobe for the housing I will. I foresee years of use for this camera and housing.

It will take getting used to the settings under water a bit but all in all the housing work perfectly for what it's designed to do. Initially I had issues with fogging up not realizing I had a couple drops of water in the housing when I first cleaned it...lessons learned...make sure housing and camera are completely dry before sealing. Tip: keep housing open during air travel since it can be hard to open otherwise.

The TG6 camera software for underwater photos worked fine with the camera in the waterproof housing on my first attempt while scuba diving. All the buttons looked intimidating, but once turned on, more intuitive to use than I anticipated. Now that I understand how to use them together, I look forward to trying the TG6 with the housing for snorkeling too. I know the camera is supposed to be waterproof for shallow swims, but the housing is easy enough, that I think I will do fine with it. I use the TG6 for kayaking with no problem from splashing and getting it wet, but being immersed for a length of time as in snorkeling, is a different level of risk. As always, the price of Olympus accessories,, such as this one, seem too high. Bottom line, it works.

I have used both Olympus and Sea frog housings. I liked this housing better because the camera trigger is more precise.

I have so far only tested this on a few dives down to about 25m, but so far this is a big step forward vs. my older Canon S120 case. Locking mechanism works well and also opens the case to take out the camera. Controls are functional. The small frame that shields the display helps with glare and the case isn't too bulky. Overall, camera and case make a great underwater camera combo.

I bought this to make my Olympus TG-6 camera truly waterproof and more, and I was very happy with it. When it arrived I was a bit taken aback because it looked complicated, but once I read the manual with the case in front of me it made sense and practicing with it the night before a drift snorkel trip worked out well. I snorkeled the next day and took hundreds of pictures and soaked the case that night in fresh water, in the sink, took the camera out and transferred my pictures to my laptop. It is going to give me years of great underwater photo protection.

Haven't used it in the water yet with my new camera, but I read numerous reviews and other options before purchasing and I think this is the best one out there for my new camera, can't wait to go diving with it.

A perfect companion for Olympus TG-6 - worked flawlessly during the week of diving in Cozumel, Mexico. I used the housing as designed, applying silicon grease on the O-ring before closing. After learning the controls it was reliable at any depth I used it (down to about 90ft).
