Product description This cartridge is brand new. Game comes in a clear plastic game case. No Original box or manual. .com The popular Fatal Fury fighting game franchise is a welcome addition to the software-starved NEOGEO system. Eleven familiar fighters return to duke it out street style in this game, which allows you to go head-to-head against your friends via a pocket link cable (sold separately). Although Fatal Fury clearly is inspired by Japanese anime (note the abundance of wildly colored hair and giant eyes), it also has a strong American flavor in style and design. This game works more or less like other fighting games--pick a character and then fight your way using fast button punching and multiple special moves. However, Fatal Fury offers much less in the way of a plot than similar fighting games for the NEOGEO, such as King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown. You see much less of the personality of your fighter--although each fighter does tend to have innovative moves and intriguing fighting props, such as killer fans. We found the learning curve for this game to be less steep than in other fighting games, which makes it easier to plow through and see all the hidden goodies. --Carrie BellPros:A nice combination of cool characters and good fighting optionsMoves are easy to pick upFair amount of female fightersCons:Little background information on the history or traits of these fightersMusic is repetitive

Short but sweet
If you have ever played a King of Fighters or Fatal Fury game, then you know what to expect. I was suprised to find that most moves from the other games worked incredibly well considering you are playing the game with only two buttons and a control stick. With this simplified translation I was pulling off moves for familiar characters right off the bat. There are 12 characters (13 if you count the special secret character only availible in 2-player mode) and they all handle differently and have their own unique moves. The graphics are great. The backgrounds are colorful and diverse, and the characters themselves, although cartoonish, are well-animated and look excellent. The music on the other hand gets old. Its nothing to turn the sound off over though, especially since the sound effects are pretty decent. My only other complaint is that this game is very short. There are only 8 stages, 9 if you meet certain conditions, and most of them are very easy. Only the boss characters are a challange. There are only two modes, single player arcade mode and two player vs mode. I would have liked to have seen a training mode to practice some of the characters moves, as some of the ultimates are tricky to pull off. I havent played the vs mode, but Im sure playing against your friends is lot of fun, since each character handles so differently. I had a good time with this game, and its a great handheld fighter. If they had just added a couple different modes I would have given it a better score.
