It's as small as you think it is, and it sticks out less than an inch from my laptop. The blue activity light on it is a little bright, but I got used to it quickly. Needs two for it to work correctly, one for the laptop (even if the laptops has Bluetooth) and one for the VCM. Ford tech here that bought my own VCM2 and wanted to go wireless and I use this, my laptop and VCM2 3-4 times a day.
