Songbird Essentials SE7018 Hummer Helper Nesting Material Refill

Birds love this stuff. I went through two packages of this. It was used constantly by hummingbirds, goldfinches and house finches in my yard. They accessed it all summer. Fits the holder they make just perfectly. It was fun to see birds going to this and flying away with beaks full of nesting material.

The birds and hummingbirds love this! I can't keep it hanging in the tree when they are nesting. I'm on my second order of it this spring. I like the fact that it is in layers you can pull apart making it go farther. I just ordered another brand that was white cotton with the hanger. The birds do not like it. It is still all there so I hurried up and ordered another of this one. If you want happy nesting birds in your yard try this. This is the 3rd year I have put it out.

I was amazed at how much came in the package! I was able to separate it into 4 layers, so it'll last a long time. Nice and soft for the hummingbirds and other birds.

It's fun to watch the hummingbirds pick small pieces off until they find the right piece. The goldfinches pick at it until they have as much as they can get in their beak to fly off and build their nests. The holder that is made for this refill hangs easily. The best part is that I live where it rains a lot and the construction of the holder and the composition of the nesting material allows it to dry out quickly. Usually one refill lasts a season but this year I had a large flock of goldfinches choose to make their spring nests here and had to put out an additional refill. That's a good problem to have!

My blue birds made the most epic nest this year, & included inside this nesting material, which I placed in a rack nearby. Would definitely recommend & purchase again-it’s very soft! I would put it under protective cover or a plastic bell from Wild Birds to keep it dry. I did not have this company’s rack, so I had to break it apart to put it inside a rack I already had & it worked fine, but I will purchase their rack for next year! They successfully fledged 5 babies day before yesterday!

Just put in my 5th refill of this bedding material! Best customers are goldfinch, but many species of small birds, humming birds and chipmunks all favor this over other brands. Live how quickly it drys I am a bit of a "birder" and brands matter! I need a super multi-pack?

I used the red cage with this nesting fluff last year and my songbird population exploded! I now have a gigantic mixed flock and I credit this nesting fill. They take a few days to find any nesting material but they LOVE this stuff! Especially the goldfinches, they continued to take from it all spring and into the summer. I love to see them flying away with a big cloud of fluff and going up to their nest! I saw in reviews how the refill some people got was skimpy and this is quite the opposite, it's thicker than the fill that came with the cage last spring. The various songbirds seem to like getting at this when I lay it flat on a plant stand. I tried hanging it when it first arrived and it swung around a lot and they didn't go near it. On the plant stand they can hop around on it and take their time scooping up big beakfuls. This is one of my favorite purchases!

I've placed this in several different locations in my yard and have NOT seen any birds use it. I dont recommend it. I would actually like to rate as 0 but have to give it at least 1.
