Secret Pizza Party
Product ID: 114447309
Shhhh! Don't tell anyone about this mouth-watering book from the New York Times bestselling creators of Dragons Love Tacos and Robo-Sauce ! How does Racoon love pizza? Oh, let him count the ways. He loves the gooey cheesy-ness, salty pepperoni-ness, sweet sweet tomato-ness, and of course the crispity crunchity crust. But someone is always chasing poor Raccoon away from his favorite food with a broom! What's a hungry raccoon to do? Plan an elaborate secret pizza party, of course! But s hhh! It’s a secret! In fact, you should probably just forget I told you. Nope, no secret pizza party happening here. You didn’t already tell all your friends, did you? Uh oh . . . Fans of Jon Klassen and Mo Willems's humor will gobble up this quirky ode to the lengths we will go to for our heart's desire. Praise for Dragons Love Tacos : New York Times bestseller A New York Times Notable Children's Book of 2012 "Rubin and Salmieri are two of the weirdest, funniest guys working in kids’ lit today. The team lets its geek flag fly in an obsessive how-to guide for would-be dragon taco party hosts. Why a taco party? As Rubin explains, 'The only things dragons love more than parties or tacos, is taco parties.' If further proof is required, Salmieri—whose poker-faced watercolor, gouache, and color pencil drawings set a benchmark for oddball observational humor—shows one odd, scaly creature with a carryout bag from 'Taco Cave' and another beaming with anticipation as it eagerly circles the date for a taco party on its taco-themed calendar. But beware: even if all the tips and rules are followed to the letter (on quantity:'The best way to judge is to get a boat and fill the boat with tacos'), all will be for naught if spicy salsa makes its way into the taco filling. In fact, the dragons will bring a whole new meaning to 'housewarming.' Off-kilter fun for those who like their picture books (and salsa) zesty and fresh."– Publishers Weekly , starred review " Dragons Love Tacos is a heaping helping of silly. Little kids will relate to the anti-spicy bias and chuckle over Salmieri's watercolor and gouache cartoon illustrations showing literally boatloads of tacos and all sizes of dragons enjoying their favorite food at pool parties, costume parties and, well, taco parties." – San Francisco Chronicle "The perfect book for kids who love dragons and mild tacos." – Kirkus Reviews "The watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil cartoon illustrations are the real stars here. Regardless of, or perhaps because of, the absurdity of the story, this tale should be a big hit with anyone with an affinity for dragons." – School Library Journal Review: Good book - Cute book Review: Great Book! - Got this for my nephew because he is a fan of this author’s other books, but this one has definitely become his absolute favorite! We read it all the time and he has his favorite lines memorized. Fun short read with great art! Like other books by Rubin, it’s purely humorous and silly without much depth or lessons to be learned. Just a little guy who wants to eat pizza. Before buying the book I was worried about the other reviews that had concerns about the messaging, now I think that it’s totally overblown. Paraphrasing, but there’s a line that’s like, “secrets make things special,” but the examples in the book are totally innocuous: secret handshakes and hidden staircases. I think if you don’t want your kids to know about secrets, don’t buy them a book with secret literally in the title, or teach them difference between good and bad secrets.

Cute, funny & quotable
Such a fun book to read with our little one. He quotes it, and other books from this author, as a routine.

Sweet sassy melassy your kid will love this book!
After reading Dragons Love Tacos 500x, I decided to give Secret Pizza Party a try and I’m so glad I did. My toddler adores this book. We read it morning, noon and night. It’s funny, age appropriate, and the illustrations are great.

good for older kids
Not nearly as good as the author's other book D'ragons Love Tacos', which was much loved by our almost 3-year-old. This book is probably for a slightly higher age range, but it's a pretty good choice overall.

Oh So Hip!
I bought this book to gift to one of my grand kids. When my older son visited one night, he found it and read it aloud to us. What a hip little book! What is so different about it is that it uses modern vernacular in the story, such as the secret handshake with a booyah! I think my little iPad loving Pierre will memorize this and read it to his younger bro. Miko will like it, because he only likes what Pierre does. I think they will both love it. Pierre is almost six. He will think this book is really cool, and, therefore, Nannie J must be as well, since she bought it. In fact, I am going to order the authors' other book about tacos. Then I will be doubly cool.

Another great book by Rubin & Salmieri!
We have every book by Rubin & Salmieri, and love them all, but this just might be my favorite (my four year old would still put Dragons Love Tacos first though). Has the wry sense of humor evident in the other books that make them entertaining for adults as well as kids and very fun illustrations that perfectly match the tone of the book. I also enjoy reading them aloud as the fact that you are "talking" to the racoon (like the Dragon book) is just a fun break from most more narrative forms. The happy ending for the raccoon is cute too!

Storyline
This book is cute, A raccoon trying desperately to get his favorite food, pizza. Yes, it talks about keeping the pizza party secret, so he doesn't get hit with a broom. Some reviews suggested not getting the book, but we discuss " secrets" and how children don't keep secrets from mom and dad for any reason. See the book for what it is, a story about a raccoon trying to get pizza. We also read books to discuss plot, setting and what they feel the story is about.

Pizza Partay
What could be better than a raccoon wanting to have pizza and the MAN being against it? Can't go wrong with an Adam Rubin book, dragons and tacos, robots, hitting balls out of the park!

Déçue
Immense fan des Dragons love Tacos, j’ai acheté ce livre mais l’histoire tombe complètement à plat. C’est bien raconté mais à la fin on se demande vraiment s’il ne manque pas quelques pages… dommage.
