Question 1

Does this include all the gears in the deluxe spirograph set as well, or should I purchase both sets to have all the gears?

Accepted Answer

Hi Susan. After investigating your question, here is what I found out: You will need to buy both sets if you want to have all the parts. The Deluxe set is the beginning set with all the parts including gears. The Super Set has additional parts for even more creative art work. There are 45 parts in the Deluxe Set and 72 parts in the Super Set. Super Spirograph KitThe Spirograph Super Kit includes 72 pieces and provides kids with the means to create unique pieces of art. Using the different pieces and pens, young artists can make a wide array of patterns and shapes on paper. Included in this Spirograph kit are a pair of racks, three design pengs, six spiro-track end caps, a tri-hub, four wheels in different shapes, 16 curved spiro-tracks in a range of sizes and more. There is also a design guide to give kids ideas and a pair of design pads. Question 2

Do the spiro-track pieces have holes in them, that allow you to use pins to secure them to cardboard? (I like pins better than the new putty.)

Accepted Answer

I think you'd have to use the holes meant for the pens. For example you can pin a wheel down and use a ring to draw around it instead of the wheel inside the ring.

Question 3

Do you still have to pin?

Accepted Answer

There is another option that I use with Wild Gears, but should also work with Spirograph: a steel sheet and neodymium magnets. The steel sheet is only a few dollars here on Amazon. You can find neodymium magnets from various places. Just be sure to get ones that fit within the width of the ring.

Question 4

One user reported a strong chemical odor. Has anyone else observed that?

Accepted Answer

There seems to always be at least one person that complains about a “strong chemical odor” and gives them headaches for everything. It’s kind of annoying.
