My original review was based on this being a bargain compared to the Rode. Now the price isn't that different - given the Rode is smoother and has a better clamp I feel I'd be misleading people if I didn't reduce by 1 star. I'm going to compare this to the Rode boom arm, because it essentially copies that design. It isn't identical to the Rode mic boom, but it is similar. This looks good, it has a long reach, and it takes the weight of a serious microphone. The Rode is slightly better made and has a nicer desk clamp. The Rode has the option to screw in a clamp to the desk, whereas this is a regular (albeit sturdy) clamp. I've literally had with side by side with the Rode boom and the difference is so minimal I cannot justify the extra cost.
