Reelin' In The Years Productions, producers of the GRAMMY® nominated American Folk Blues Festival Series series, bring the same care and dedication to the Jazz Icons series as they have shown in their other critically acclaimed releases, including Dreams To Remember: The Legacy of Otis Redding, The Temptations: Get Ready- Definitive Performances 1965-1972, Muddy Waters-Classic Concerts and Marvin Gaye- The Real Thing In Performance 1964-1981. Review: Jazz for all... - Our son (jazz player) and I LOVE these series. It is wonderful that someone had the amazing idea to record this amazing music performed by these Jazz GREATS. It's great for him to see and hear some of the music I have been listening for years performed by those who created the music, the styles, the beats.... Review: Fed up of anticopy system - Dear, Those records are wonderful. Unfortunately due to the copy protection technics, I am not able anymore to read them on my MacBook by a USB CD Drive. Indeed, they designed anticopy with physical mistakes on the DVD which do not allow to read anymore. However I PAID those DVD, and I should have the right to read as I want. Vincent

Every jazz lover should by the entire series
This is a great series. The video and sound quality are very good throughout despite the age of the recordings. I would highly recommend the entire series to anyone who loves jazz.

black and white gems
I didn't love all of it, I gave the Monk DVD away, mainly because I'm a drummer and Monk is solo on his footage but others may love it for those reasons. Great to see Freddie Hubbard Johnny Griffin, I didn't realise how 'jazz/rock' they were in an acoustic genre, exiting stuff. Art if wonderfull of course though a bit repetitious. Coltrane is Coltrane, intense an almost spiritual set, great footage of the other band members. Roland Kirk, interesting as ever. As usual from Jazz Icon, a mixed set, but generally worth having if your into enough of the content.

Big price jump for set number 5
I hope the price comes down on this set. The other sets are priced well below this one on a per disc basis.
